The most magical place in East Grinstead
Jan 2020
Me and my family could live in this bookshop. The building, the staff, the cakes, the books 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 it is all just incredibly wonderful. Forget Waterstones! Shop and support independent real human beings.

chess club visit
Dec 2019
I liked how the Chess Books layed out in front of the chess Club and the painted Walls inside and the Shelfs of Books and the Tables and the Chess Boards layed out for people to use them.

i liked the chess games they were fun and friendly. you could played competivily if you wanted to.
i also liked that alan would give me helpful feedback when i asked him what should i have done instead.

the place has a small amount of chess books and a lot of fictional and non fictional books.

bring a notebook with a rubber and pencil to record your chess games for free.
i don't like that if you don't bring a notebook you will have to buy £15 for a sheet to record your games.

its only a short visit if you visit it for a short amount of time.
it not all day event.

its an evening event.

Unexpected Pleasure
Aug 2019
This Book Shop is fairly new to the town and I think the proprietors have taken an optimistic view that the business can be profitable when so many in other towns are closing down.Speaking for myself I seldom buy books these days as I prefer to read Kindle books on my IPad .This has the advantage of being cheaper and convenience.
However there are people not many perhaps who prefer books to hold in their hands which is just as well for a bookshop. The owners are nice people and I wish them every success.

What a book shop should be
Jan 2018 • Couples
This is a proper bookshop, with a superb stock of both new and secondhand books. There is a very nice little section for teas, good coffee and tasty cakes. John Pye, the owner, is a very knowledgeable and friendly man and he and his shop are huge assets to East Grinstead.

Lovely old bookshop in a beautiful old building. Treat yourself to a warm drink and a cake whilst browsing the excellent books. Cards too.

In a 14th Century High Street building, nestles a 'Book Shop'
Sep 2017 • Solo
This is quite a unique and refreshing experience for book browsing. The book shop is full of nooks and crannies due to the age of the building with its different floor levels, walls and doorways. Offers a labyrinth of various displays of cards, books plus a cosy seated area for coffee.

The knowledgable staff have time to answer your questions and search for solutions.

Always a pleasure to drop in when passing by.

Often in the warmer months there is a table and chairs set up on the pavement for the playing of chess.
