Great Show
Nov 2021
I went to the Castle to see Bye Bye Baby a tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the show was brilliant. I loved every minute of it.

Dom Joly in a fairly empty theater
Mar 2020
What a pity that Dom Joly had sucha quiet, refurbished, theater in which to present his 'Hezbollah Walking Club' tour. The theater has recently undergone a refurbishment wit all the chairs being overhauled. Great facility that should be used more often by the local community. Hopefully the COVID-19 impacts will not hit it too hard in the next couple of months.

No marketing
Feb 2020
Looking forward to a show we'd booked. Received a call to move us down from the balcony into the stalls. Why? Why, because no tickets sold and no atmospheric audience! Looked ahead and poor sales all round. Why, no marketing. Nothing in local press, nothing on local radio, nothing in free press. Don't they realise you have to work to be a success?
The new restaurant is opening...well Pizza Hut not a restaurant ...but with such low numbers then how long will that survive?
It's such a shame for such a great venue and the acts they book. Nothing wrong with the programme, it's just that nobody knows it's there and what's on!
Somebody needs to get a grip, and locals need to note, unless there's better promotion and response then we'll lose what is a super amenity.

Discusting racist behaviour by castle theater. Should be ashamed of them selves.
Feb 2020 • Friends
I was in the audiance of the country musical show and a bunch of girls were made to leave because they were from a minority background! They were clearly enjoying the performance and I feel they were being well behaved and just chatting amongst themselves. At no point did I feel threatened or that they were ruining my experience. I will not be attending again and I'm going to let everyone know about this experience. I will not be associated with racial hate!!! Shame on you castle theater.

Great little theatre
Dec 2019
We recently took our two children to see the pantomime here and had fairly low expectations based on previous pantomime visits (not at the castle incidentally) but we were really pleasantly surprised. The tickets were very reasonable, the auditorium was comfortable and the performance was enjoyed immensely by the children and even raised a smile from the panto hater in myself. I will definitely be taking in another show at the Castle Theatre.

No one took there part seriously

Very disappointed in the performance of Aladdin that we saw just after Christmas. Everyone wanted to be funny Abanzer was supposed to be scary he wouldn't have scared the skin off a rice pudding to busy trying to be funny he was supposed to be a baddy and the director obviously didn't no the traditions of pantomime they had him and also the slave of the ring coming on and off the wrong sides crossing over in the middle of the stage they lose there power when they cross the middle of the stage. The Emperor also trying to be funny a definite no no he's supposed to be the sensible one. Loved the Dame. The young dancers did a good job. The sound was to loud and the lights around the stage far to bright. Hopefully the amatuers who will be putting on their panto in a couple of weeks will show the theatre management how it should be done .

Oh no its not - Oh yes it is ....
Dec 2019
Theatre has been refurbished since last visit (12.18)

Pantomime was very disappointing with the following aspects: 1) sound tight and muffled, 2) speech too rapid and incoherent 3) Music was painfully loud on occasion and so quiet could not hear 4) LED frame around stage used but far too bright.

Last year all seats sold - this year occupancy about 75% - does this mean anything as it was last performance before Christmas.

Missed the point of a fun pre-Christmas activity / pantomime - no real jokes ......

Overall: compliments to young dancers Ebanazar and the Genie - everyone else wanted to go home and appeared far too tired.
Backstage compliments to those who work hard behind the scenes.

With such a disappointing production this year, discount advice for next years production given and the prices of tickets this year - we query whether or not an amateur production of this type, with known paid professional is value for money compared with the big theatres down the road.

Dec 2019 • Family
First time taking my little girl theatre and we weren’t disappointed, the show was amazing and the comedy was for all ages. Such a great atmosphere definitely worth the price. Can’t wait to boom again for next year . Such a gem that Wellingborough has we need to keep utilising this lovely facility on our doorstep.

Comedy Night Out
Nov 2019
We visited The Castle Theatre yesterday evening to see Ed Gamble. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Staff were attentive and helpful, easy to find our seats. This venue is a nice size. Parking in the castle's car park does get busy so its best to allow enough time to park before the show. Would recommend this venue. Would definitely return.

Ok for a small venue
Oct 2019
We went last night to see 'Lost voice guy'. We had not been to this theatre before, usually its Milton Keynes or Northampton.

There is plenty of free parking if you arrive early enough which is unusual and impressive for a theatre.
The theatre is a small venue. There a large bar, but not enough seating in the waiting area for the amount of people waiting to go in, so we ended up going upstairs to wait where people were not walking into us. There is more seating upstairs but it could do with more.

The theatre is fairly new but looked and smelt old. The seats are quite small and not a lot of legroom, i am not sure if this is the same all over, we were upstairs in the balcany area. Staff were friendly and efficient, can;t judge the bar as the queue was too long so we didn't bother.

The show was great, including warm up Jonny Awsum, so it was well worth a visit, and the venue is ok, but if an act was there and at another local theatre, this wouldn;t be my first choice.
