Run by volunteers, who are so knowledgeable and not just about places they have leaflets for or are nearby. Yes they are very helpful about local attractions but have helped me on occassion find out about places elsewhere in the North of England. The Centre has a well stocked shop with items from the traditional to the quirky. The Volunteers make the place though, many such centre with paid staff could learn much from this friendy, happy, welcoming team

We visited this small Tourist Information Office while in Thirsk for the day and being new to the area it was an obvious place to go. We were amazed and quite overwhelmed by the number of leaflets available. A male member of staff showed us what was in the immediate area and how we could get there by avoiding the extensive road works at the edge of town. If we are in Thirsk again we shall certainly call in for advice.

Impressed by how much these volunteer staff tried to help. I live in the area so not an average tourist but still keep to add to my knowledge on train services despite being short of brochures. Full marks!

We visited Thirsk on a Tues, for the Herriott Museum. I collect china thimbles from places I visit and tourist information offices are the best place to find them. However we found it is closed on tuesdays and wednesdays! Not much good if you visit on those days is it!

We are now open again every day except Sundays. Sorry we were closed when you called, being all-volunteer it has been hard to staff the office when people needed to shield.

Charming polite staff, usual leaflet paraphernalia around of local "must sees"and local attractions.
Situated in a separate building, next to the "White Horse Cafe",just by the clock tower.
Careful as you walk to it as its surrounded by cobbled pavements.

This was a very clean toilet building which was changed to a Tourist Board. The toilets are now well off the square including the Accessible toilet.
Nice to have a tourist board but not at the expense of moving toilet facilities a long way from the Square.
Good info there,helpful Ladies.
Wrong priorities.

Whilst looking around the shop I started a conversation with the two ladies behind the counter about Thirsk and surrounding villages. They were both very informative of places I should visit on my stay. They were that good I have since revisited again in August. As like most Yorkshire people I have had the pleasure in meeting they were very courteous, knowledgeable and pleasant.

Situated in the heart of Thirsk is this fairly new looking building offering tourist information.
I needed to know where the racecourse was, and they were superb explaining that I was in walking distance of the place!
Lovely friendly staff and a nice clean environment.
