Tea in the sunshine.
Sep 2021
Just popped in for a cup of tea on the way back from shopping. It was a lovely day, so we sat outside. You order at the counter and the waitress brings your order to you. On this occasion we only had tea, but have visited before and the scones are lovely.

The shop selling artisan pottery, art and jewellery is also worth a visit.

Wonderful, quiet and comfortable snack cafe
Aug 2019 • Couples
We had been recommended to this hidden gem by a local person. We went for a light lunch and could not have found a better place. The two young waitresses were delightfully friendly, our table quiet in one of the small rooms. The soup of the day was beetroot - most unusual and pleasantly appetising with crusty, warm bread. My mixed salad was particularly delicious including a number of unexpected ingredients and individually prepared. If in Thirsk we would come here every week, as does one of our friends. Thank for a lovely hour.

enjoyable crafty morning
Jun 2018 • Solo
i took the plunge and went here to do some clay modeling, it was great, learnt lots from the teacher and made a cool plate, some nice people to chat to too, afterwards i went in the gift shop and the cafe, both were very nice indeed, enjoyed a sandwich and coffee and the lady who runs the cafe and front of house was very nice indeed, the toilet was a big, clean room, i am going back for more classes and i reccomed anyone to do the same, the morning class i did was 1.5 to 2 hours, didn't need to take anything, will just need to go collect pot from kiln, the price of £17 was good too.

Lovely
Apr 2018 • Friends
Myself, 5 friends and our babies all met here for lunch. We were grateful that the staff allowed us in as we did feel as though we took up most of the cafe with our prams! The staff and food were lovely, the service was fairly slow and the food didn’t seem to arrive in the order that we ordered it (some of us arrived a lot earlier) however this wasn’t too much of a problem. They cater for vegetarians and also have different types of dairy free milk which is great. The baby changing facilities are good however they are upstairs which is a slight pain with a baby and all the baggage! I had a quick look at the things for sale and there are some lovely items at reasonable prices- I hope to go back and have a proper look.

Coffee experience
Mar 2018 • Friends
Very sad experience regarding small cup of coffee, has now gone up to £2.45 from £2.20, I realise that the price of coffee has gone up world wide, but surly attitude of young woman serving was not required, no smile, just sour face. Staff training badly needed! Shame really, as venue for art and crafts is first class, hope young woman concerned has the relevant training. Has put a damper on my visits to the cafe concerned, and other visitors!

Creative Encouragement
Nov 2017 • Solo
Encouraging, motivating, friendly, creative, welcoming, well equipped, varied, etc etc. There are many ways to describe this lovely arts centre. Having now attended several workshops I can say that it's creative staff are excellent teachers and with such a wide option of courses, you really don't know which to try first! Lovely cafe and gift shop too. Well done Rural Arts.

Fab friendly fun little place
Nov 2017 • Solo
Rural arts is a hidden gem for those who love all things creative, from art/craft workshops to performance there's something on their timetable for everyone. There's a fab little shop that sells all local artist produced creations it's difficult to choose what to buy as there's so many wonderful products. The cafe is quaint and the food homemade and delicious - Crockery could maybe do with being replenished as some of it has seen better days but don't let that put you off. The workshops are very very good with expert tutors who are very attentive, friendly and fun, with everything provided for the task. Everyone is so friendly, and helpful, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Such a gem
Jul 2017 • Solo
There are so many events held here from crafts, screenings to comedy not to mention the hand made gifts and lovely cafe. Real gem in the heart of North Yorkshire, very lucky to have this on my doorstep. Recently attended a comedy evening here, and although they sold out and had to get more chairs, the staff we really friendly and accommodating and really hope they host more comedy in the future!

Coffee cake and culture.

Very nice atmosphere, good quality home baking. A feast for your eyes too in the gallery and crafts next door. Only a little walk from the town centre. Just called in for a coffee and and tasty bit. Just a few minutes walk from TESCO car park. Smashing!
