A wonderful experience for our children today doing pony trekking. Sheila was amazing with my daughter especially who was a little bit nervous about getting on the horse. All the way round the trek she was reassuring. Both of my children absolutely loved this and I think the price was really reasonable. Would highly recommend this and I’m sure we will return in the future. Thank you!

We visited today for a beginners ride for my daughters and a friend. They had never ridden before and were made to feel very welcome and put at ease by Sheila and her staff. They went out for a 40 minute ride through the village and into some lovely countryside. They thoroughly enjoyed it and are already asking to go back! Highly recommended.

We visited Boltby Trekking today after my friend booked a 2 hour trek for my birthday !

We had an amazing morning, the team at Boltby Trekking were very welcoming and Hannah who took us out on our trek was really friendly and easy to chat too!

After not riding for 20 years we really didn’t know what to expect but we were quickly on the horses and our on the bridle paths with no time wasted. By the end of the trek we were trotting back along the road to get back into the yard.

Amazing views / bridle paths and will definitely be back ...

I booked this 2 hour ride for my Daughter and I after Covid had prevented us from riding since February. I saw a Facebook review from a friend and thought the £40 price was very reasonable. Our previous hacks locally were the same price for only 90 mins.
From the start our hack leader Hannah was friendly and easy to talk to, also helping when the horse I was on wouldn't get into canter!.
The scenery was absolutely stunning, on tracks through woodland, as far as the eye could see and ultimately a very relaxing ride with plenty of canters!
Also there was a little less formality with riding positions, unlike other hacks where you're instructed to keep in the same position. Once off the road, we could basically move around freely if we so chose.
All the horses also appeared very healthy and well looked after.
Book a ride, you wont be disappointed!

This is the second time I have ridden with the Boltby Stables and they didn't fail to disappoint. Sheila, the owner, always does her best to accommodate all experience's of the riders and match up the horses accordingly. The route she picked included a lovely wooded hill top for our packed lunch with fantastic views all around. In fact, this summed up the scenery for all of our ride. I believe that the diversity of riding scenery is second to none with riding through woodland to moorland and through pretty villages etc.. It is certainly one of my summer highlights that I look forwaqrd to and will go again

After 3 months of lockdown, having done very little to feed the soul, this two hour hack around the beautiful Thirsk countryside, was just what I needed. The horses were lovely and Sheila who took us out was very friendly. I will absolutely be going back. I loved every minute.

I have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable ride around Boltby forest, with Sheila (and thank you Cassie and Shannon). My mare (Shannon) was responsive and safe, and being just myself and Sheila on this ride, we ambled along chatting for the full 90 minutes. I booked this last minute, and assumed I wouldn’t get anything booked in. But Sheila contacted me the night before and did everything she could to fit me in. I am an occasionally nervous rider, experienced but have lost confidence in the past. Shannon was a gem! Sturdy and forward but I didn’t once feel anxious or out of control. The weather was kind, the scenery beautiful and Sheila is a wealth of local knowledge on flora, fauna and wildlife. Perfect way to spend some time on a horse...would definitely recommend.

Booked a two hour ride for my sister and myself as I thought it would be a good way to see the countryside. Neither of us had ridden for many years but we were soon matched up with suitable mounts and off into the hills. The scenery did not disappoint, not just in the hills but also in the pretty little village of Boltby itself. Although we were left walking a little like John Wayne, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.

I visited Boltby Trekking Centre with my 10-year old daughter over the half term. We had a wonderful 2-hour trek into Boltby forest - lovely countryside and very well behaved horses. We started out on the road but the horses were quite used to this and were very calm. We soon entered the forest bridleways, which were lovely and quiet. We joined two other people and had two guides, Sheila and Hannah, so it was a very comfortable ride with one to the front and one bringing up the rear! Sheila was very friendly and encouraging. The trek took the full two hours, with lots of opportunities for trotting. We had our own riding hats, but hats were available if needed. Excellent value for money - I would definitely recommend.
