This is only a tiny place and it was quite difficult to park. I ended up parking on the outskirts of the village and walking in. There are a couple of spaces near the church but there is no pavement and cars come up the hill quite fast, so be aware of that if you park there. There is a small exhibition in the market hall of the village in bygone days, the pictures are really interesting. It’s also nice to visit the church and stroll around the village. The cottages are interesting and there is a tiny local shop that sells drinks and snacks.

What a pity that this fine historic building, the centre piece of this charming village is regularly obscured by a Land Rover parked in front of it. I suspect said Land Rover is the property of the National Trust who are supposed to be preserving and presenting the building for view. I know parking in Winster is limited but.....

In the area and a member of NT so called on a wet miserable day.. perhaps I was expecting the usual country house so was so surprised that I drove past it.
Definitely worth preserving so how can I be critical? So a lovely historic building it is. Wow factor lacking. ... However I am used to living in 17th century buildings with all their manifold failings and charms!
Take a look if you pass by!
Oh. Where were the NT signs? I had difficulty finding it. ..

After travelling a long way, it was no more than an old place with one room upstairs. Northing inside except for a notice board. It is unmanned and free to visit. It seemed more like a meeting place for youngsters, who were busy playing inside, no parents to be seen.

This is a small building in the centre of Winster. The downstairs seems to be used as a local storage area but after climbing the uneven steps to the upstairs there is a display area. There is a well produced village model made by locals and information about the village and its twin town which is an Italian hill village. Worth a look in if you are in the area, but not to make a special trip to see it.

the Market House is a building in the village open to the public. It has a village model inside and History plaques on the wall explaining the Village's past. It is free and open to the public to walk in / out. There are some uneven steps to get up to the history room but no facilities for people with mobility issues.

A lovely little market house. With some interesting things to read once inside. The village surrounding the market house is beautiful and idyllic. it’s not the kind of place you come to for more than half an hour at the most but worth a visit if in the area and wanting to check it of your National Trust visit list!

NT property which is off the beaten track in a small village. No entry fee even if not a member.
Quite a bit of local history covering mining in the locality.
Not a lot to see so only a short visit required.
Very little in the locality on a Monday, pub closed and only one shop appeared to be open.

Some interesting info on Winster if you happen to be passing but not worth diverting to. A fascinating village with lots of history.
