Terribly disappointed. Called there on Tues evening. We picked a table and immediately got told off by some locals, saying it was reserved. People on another table told us it wasn’t, so we sat at it, whilst table A gave us dirty looks. Not very welcoming from the locals. It is a beer garden and our expectations were not extravagant. The staff were nice, but ALL the food seemed to be from Bookers wholesale. None of it tasted nice, and none of our party of 6 finished our meal. I myself only had 2 mouthfuls.

We walked in and all we get is dirty looks, locals not welcoming at all.
They messed up are drinks and when we asked for new ones I heard the locals talking about us.
The only nice part of the whole pub was the lovely staff terrible food though.
Messing up the drinks was not the waiters fault.
Don't come here terrible food you could buy from a cheap shop.

This place has always been "famous" in the locality - famous for their great beer (still is) and their warm welcome (what happened to that).
Cannot believe how the Landlord responded to me when I asked if I could taste one of the bitters. "Have you never tasted it before then" was his sultry, miserable, unhappy, unsmiling response.
I think you are in the wrong job!
I have drunk my last pint at The Cap until there is a new Landlord.

Called in for lunch on the off chance, as our family was close by on the river in a narrow boat. The food was exceptionally good and the prices very reasonable. The Doom Bar ale was well kept, just as it should be.
Allowed us to take the dog in which is rare these days, and gave us water for her.
The pub reminded me of the Rovers Return in Coronation Street, back when Annie Walker was the proprieter.
Quaint and old fashioned, but very cosy.
There is nothing negative that can be said about this place.
We all enjoyed our meals, and the staff were both polite and really welcoming.
If we are in the area again, we will be calling for more of the hot chilli with extra Tabasco, (to taste). It was fabulous.
Thank you

Great little place open fire and a log burner. Great ales and traditional bass from the jug. Big beer garden should be great in the summer.

Reasonable food very cheap, good beer and friendly staff. I had the basic burger which was good - came with nice chips. The beer garden was very nice.

Staying in a nearby hotel so decided to pop here for a quick drink. It’s a quaint pub with a few rooms around the central bar area and a beer garden out back. The staff seem friendly and the choice of drink was good. Looks like it’s popular with the locals.

So..... I'm not a local but find myself staying in Kegworth on business from time to time. I always shirk the free company funded bar in the nearby hotel and make a beeline for the "Cap" for a proper evening out. Why? Well I don't judge a pub on fancy decor or gimmicks. I judge it in (in no order of priority): Well kept beer (tick), Friendly atmosphere (tick) and the presence or receptiveness to a dog (tick). The staff at this pub are always unpretentious and welcoming. They certainly know how to keep their beer and a daft, friendly dog wagging it's tail around the place is the norm. Had tea in the Cap this evening and cannot fault the quality and value for money. You haven't had a pint of Bass until you've had one from the jug in here! A real gem of a real ale pub just off the main street in the village. A must visit for anyone in the area. Will continue to return every time I'm in the area. 10/10 from me 😎
