Staff not interested in getting your drink order to you on a quiet weekday afternoon, took 15 minutes from ordering to arrival. More worrying was a table near an open exterior door that no one wanted to be seated at more than a couple of minutes. Four separate groups of people were seated at this table within 20 minutes and no cleaning was done between any of them.

Meal took ages to arrive and staff not helpful at all.Our families have eaten here often but tonight was very disappointing. Two had the Caesar salad and asked specifically for no anchovies and were assured they didn't come with it but of course they did . Poor presentation of salad and no where near as good as previously experienced. Again staff not interested. We have had the pie here several times but tonight's was different and not for the better.

This afternoon my friend and I stopped in for a pint. Soon after we had been served by a friendly bar person, we began smelling cigar smoke. We realized that a man at the bar had been outside smoking and had just come back in. The aroma subsided for a while, but before we even finished our beer the same man plus another had gone into the enclosed porch at the entry. The entire front of the pub reeked and we had to pass them in close quarters as we left. They were not sufficiently outside the pub and yet not a single employee was concerned. Exiting the pub was like running a gauntlet of smoke. We will not return.

Wine was delicious! On entering though the pub smelt of Fried Fish!! Didn't eat here but the menu looked lovely. Nice pleasant beer garden to the rear. Would go again but did need to sit outside due to the odour

We have not been here for a few years but was pleased at a very warm welcome. The food was lovely.I had beef and ale pie ,my husband and father-in -law had.Plaice. We were delighted with our deserts bakewell pudding and custard, bakewell tart and cherry ice cream. The food came very quickly and the staff were very attentive. My fahter-in -laws final verdict was "This food has a bit of class". I couldn't have said any thing better my self.

I had a poor experience here quite a long time ago. I need to provide an update from that time because in the interim I've visited and eaten here several times and I'm convinced that I was simply really unlucky on my original review visit. The food is very tasty (not cheap, but then you're in the Peak District so get used to it) and really is pretty good value. Service excellent and menu choices wide. A great selection of beer and probably even more choices of Gin. Recommended.

Massive meals, Sunday Roast with sensational Yorkshire Puddings. The fast lamb was so tasty and the beef looked perfect. A great selection of gins and whiskeys. I enjoyed the service, it was polite and attentive.

After a great day climbing the 6 of us ate here. Food was spot on and very tasty. Though Not overly large portions I must add but very nice indeed. Not sure about the staff-was one of them a little blunt and grumpy? or was it just me. Anyway-my only downer was the bill. It is a little pricey.... £18.75 for Sunday roast and a pint.🤔
