- H1977HSuffolk, United Kingdom53 contributionsGreat swim, great team and great location! My first visit to the lido whilst staying locally and it didn’t disappoint. I’d booked online but there were tickets available on the day too! Lots of useful information on the website and as I’d not been before the team pointed me in the right direction for lockers, showers and the cafe! The water was heated and I enjoyed a glorious swim!Visited July 2023Traveled soloWritten July 11, 2023
- Adele A8 contributionsNice pool but busy parking area !Me and my 13 year old came. We hadn't been before and on arrival was disappointed that the last on the till didn't inform us "where to go" to change etc. This would of been helpful. That being said now we have been once we do know. The issue is on arrival to a new place we went into the toilets and changed and there was actually separate changing rooms to the toilet area which were larger which we saw after we changed in small toilets. Cafe did lovely milkshake after our swim. Swim was 10 quid for me and my daughter for 2 hours session. One hour was enough. Pool warmer than the sea water but not really hot. Good time and will go again Best for those who can swim or the shallow end will be over crowded with all those who can't swim in it as they can't pass the marker to the deeper part Parking was limited so arrive in time and parking machine was not taking coins was pay by phone only !!Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 22, 2023
- Super Cauliflower Cheese, Ham and Eggs…Rotherham, United Kingdom80 contributionsA lovely quaint swimming experience that everyone should try. This is a fantastic day out and a great opportunity, not only to swim outdoors but to get a feel for a real local and community facility. We were able to book online in advance which was a good option given that we were travelling some distance to get there. We were able to park in the small car park outside and gained access quickly with plenty of room for changing at the poolside. In all honesty, the temperature of the water was a little colder than I was hoping for and expecting, and unless you are genuinely there to swim lengths in the pool, it can be a little ‘fresh’. However, the pool was very clean, the staff were friendly and the overall experience was a positive one. At a price of £7 each, it was reasonable, I suppose, especially given the fact that the facility no doubt has significant costs to keep it open. There were lovely hot showers available after you’d been in the pool and a lovely café for you to access in order to be the warmup or replace the calories you tried to lose in the first place! we will definitely return time and I’m very much looking forward to booking a night swimming session with accompanying music.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 13, 2023
- Louisa M18 contributionsAn Autumnal outdoor swimA great experience. I would say it's a pool used for swimming rather than actual leisure. If you're stood about too long, you'll get cold. You definitely need to swim a few lengths to keep warm at this time of year. Really liked the simplicity of the changing rooms, adds to the experience. Lovely cafe too!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 29, 2023

We booked for a family session. The arrangements for Covid were well organised and not too cumbersome. The pool was in Greta condition having had recent work. We were able to enjoy lane swimming even though the rest of the pool had families enjoying water at a decent 27 degrees

The pool and facilities are spot on, met all expectations and we had a good time. Myself and two boys (age 14 and 6) spent about an hour in the pool. Changing facilities are clean and we had no issues getting a large enough cubicle for all three of us. Generally we had a really nice time and we’ll make the two hour round trip again for sure.
Three negatives that I won’t dwell on but felt were relevant.
The water was cold. Colder than the 27 degrees it stated the temperature was! Nice feeling when it started raining though. Don’t let that put you off but you should be aware, I’d say more than half the swimmers that day were shocked how cold it was.
It was busy and with the shallow end being so small (there’s a line non strong swimmers can’t cross) we simply found it overcrowded and we couldn’t swim much to start with. When people had enough after 30-40 mins because they were cold, we then got a bit more space. I would say they could limit the number of children in each session.
Parking! OMG this was the worst and most stressful part. The dedicated car park is small and was full. On talking with the lifeguard apparently this is the norm! So we headed to railway station which was full. On street parking was non-existent and when we found what we thought was a kerb side space an angry resident was straight out, telling us tourists were ruining their right to peace, quiet and making their lives a parking misery hence the locals park in front of their homes on a weekend (some instead of their drives). I duly moved the car again and thankfully found a roadside space about 10 mins walk away. Another local resident was disapproving but I felt we weren’t causing any issue here as it was away from a drive or garden. In the queue to get in there we’re many of us with similar stories.
Great facility and experience but seemingly one the local residents want to keep for themselves

A great local pool, very popular. You need to book early if not a member - ideally as soon as booking opens to get your preferred slot. Pool very clean and is heated. Changing rooms, showers and toilets all clean and modern. Small cafe attached selling snacks, ice creams and drinks. Free car park for customers but does fill up quite quickly.

Booked a swim session for myself and partner after hearing my MIL’s experience of visiting several times. Made sure I was online on the Friday before well in advance of the ticket release time, so we didn’t miss out. It was an enjoyable experience & it didn’t feel like we were in the middle of the Peak District, let alone England! Pool and pool side were really clean and the pool wasn’t too overcrowded. I was shocked at the amount of children attending a midday swim session on a Thursday though! I would say when you attend that you make sure to arrive well before your session is due to start , as parking around the pool is a nightmare & we ended up being late for our session. The pay and display carpark was full, with the exception of the permit parking, the carpark at the pool is small and limited to several spaces, there is also limited street parking, but beware of double yellow lines & residents driveways. There are lockers available but with the limited numbers, we felt at ease to leave our stuff at the side of the pool, and depending where you leave it, you can see it from the pool. Changing rooms were nice and clean & so were the other facilities. Overall, it was a lovely swim and would recommend.

Built in the 1930s, this place is a magical place to swim with beautiful scenery all around. A cafe on site and very close to the shops and train station. Enjoy it in winter (have to be brave getting out!) & summer. Water temperature around 26 degrees.

The visit wasn't the best, it felt a lot colder than the 24 degrees we were told it was. Staff weren't inviting at all. It wasn't the greatest weather, we had hailstones half way through which isn't the pools fault, but have it in mind if weather is not nice. Needs more than some TLC, could better and warmer

I don't know what else to say, I came here for what you would expect, the famous Hathersage Swimming Pool Cornetto that they sell outside of the pool, and holy guacamole moly it was delicious. The way that the vanilla ice cream slathers over my tongue was borderline orgasmic, and on the wrong side of that border if you're in public may I say. Change of clothes aside, this light snack was one of the best I have ever had, only topped by the donuts I had on Scarborough Pier and the hot dog at Alton Towers, and oh my the crunchy goodness at the end made me scream 'OH YES' with more passion than Martin Tyler's famous commentary on Anthony Martial's debut goal against Liverpool.

Lovely pool, temperature was fine but shallow end was heaving. Might be better to limit spaces for non swimmers as it was packed at that end. Also a group of scouts jumping and bombing at the deep end and it did not appear that anyone asked them to stop despite it being annoying for others.
Facilities were nice and clean and the online booking was efficient. Parking is an issue we spent 25 minutes trying to find somewhere to park so get there in plenty of time. If we were back in the area we would go again

What a Gem - great online booking system, clear and simple to use.
Arrived to welcoming staff, good changing facilities and lockers (remember a £1 for these). The session I booked was described a "family" - although there was a pretty decent swim lane roped off which I used.
Pool temperature was perfect and other swimmers polite, good polite interaction with lifeguards - no whistles which was nice. Good post swim showers, clean restrooms and a good length of swim (think I was in 50mins).

There’s a pay and display car park opposite but not sure if there’s a height restriction
What are the changing rooms like is it male / female or is there privacy like cubicles please?

Does the pool feel freezing in winter? Would it be unpleasant for children? Do you wear normal swimsuits in winter?
Zoe L

The pool is heated so once you're in it's fine, on a really cold day it's great to get in to warm up! Yes, it's just normal swimwear. Getting changed after can be a bit chilly - just make sure you bring lots of warm clothes (including a hat) and a big towel and you should be good 🙂. A nice big hot chocolate after helps too!
