Blue John Gems is an independent family run business which has been open since 1949. We stock a large selection of both Silver and Gold Blue John Stone jewellery along with lots of other jewellery including Hot Diamonds and Pilgrim. We also have in stock Blue John Bowls, Eggs and Chalices. We also stock lots of giftware items such as Jellycat,Dunoon,Blue Poppy Art and Royal Crown Derby

In Castleton there is a plethora of Blue John Gem shops - it is quite remarkable. However it is difficult to see what makes this pleasant little shop stand out. The products were lovely and the staff polite. But that’s about it.

Went hoping to buy some jewellery as a wedding anniversary present for my wife; the first sales assistant was rude and abusive to my wife and the second sales assistant was totally uninterested in serving us, even though we were their only customers at the time. Don't waste your time at Blue John Gems!!

Staff were very helpful in here when I was looking for a small gift to take home for my mum in law , good variety of stock all very reasonably priced and laid out well on the shelves.

a wonderfull lady served us in the shop she advised us on the type of ring and earrings to go for and did not advise the dearest but the ones that suited

As with other similar gift shops within Castleton, as the name suggests, sells a variety of gifts primarily Blue John mined within the local area. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Blue John Gems is a fantastic gift shop right in the heart of Castleton, which sells a huge variety of gifts and mementos. Foremost among these is the beautiful Blue John, which is mined exclusively in the area. This makes items made out of, or adorned with the stone, understandably pricey - in fact there is one cabinet of beautiful bowls, vases and the like which doesn't display prices! Fortunately, Blue John Gems caters for all budgets and I was able to find a pretty silver letter opener with a Blue John inlaid handle as a gift for my mother. Whilst paying, I asked to look at a ring I had had my eye on. It was too big, but the lady serving me found another identical ring in a smaller size which fit perfectly and which had an even nicer piece of stone than the first! I couldn't resist treating myself too! My purchases were wrapped in smart boxes.
So if you visit Castleton and would like to buy a memento of your trip or a gift for a loved one, I recommend Blue John Gems as the place to go! I bet you don't leave empty handed!

This is a great little shop in the heart of Castleton. There are gifts galore and a great selection of the local Blue John jewellery

An exceptionally good experience. The shop staff were very helpful. We went into all the Blue John Shops in Castleton to see what was available in Earrings and Blue John Gems had far the most choice. If anyone is looking for an item of Blue John then this is the shop to go to.

Blue John gems is a shop selling quality jewellery, specialising in blue John jewellery but also sells a selection of gifts and other jewellery. There are also impressive specimens of blue John to look at. The staff are really friendly and very helpful. I am a regular customer and have purchased some lovely jewellery from them.
