Delightful easy riverside walk crossing the stepping stones over the river Dove with Thorpe Cloud towering over the walk to the right. More easy walking to picnic areas and surrounding hills make this a jewel in the crown of the Peaks

The scenery is breathtaking, walking over the stepping stones, climbing to the top of Lovers Leap and seeing the Lions Head rock is well worth the visit. The cost of the car park is £3, which I think is fair enough. There is a National Trust information building at the start of the walk, and there was no extra cost,... More

Low level easy walk. Fun stepping stones for children and adults. Paddling area for children. Dog friendly. Pay parking. If you walk right to the other end there are caves and a nice icecream and takeaway shop

A fantastic place to walk especially on a sunny day. A lovely stroll along the river, or a steep climb to the top of Thorpe Cloud. Plenty to do in Dovedale and lots of lovely little villages surrounding it. Caves to explore, stepping stones to balance across, and lots of sights along the way including the lion rock. A great... My 5 year old daughter and I were looking for somewhere to go for a picnic after work yesterday and decided to visit Dovedale. We arrived at about six thirty and was surprised to find that the car parks are locked at seven thirty and we couldn't find an alternative place to park without a substantial distance to walk. We... Natural beauty at its best - walk a little further to get away from the crowds. Children find the stepping stones exciting.

I was a little pessimistic that my 2 boys aged 16 & 12 were going to moan about being dragged off on a walk during our week holiday in the Peak District. How wrong could I be! Both boys named it as one of the highlights of our trip. The walk takes you along a small river where a short... More

This is probably one of the most beautiful spots in the Dales and is well managed and maintained by the National Trust with good car parking. Unfortunately, if you're a nature fiend like me that can be a downside. It is incredibly busy with queues to walk over the stepping stones. I prefer to feel like I've found a hidden... More
