Fabulous Museum
Dec 2020 • Couples
Went here to escape the rain and wind on a cold December day. What a gem of a museum. We were the only two here for an hour or so. Enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. The history of Whitehaven was given concisely along with the history of The Lowther family.

The Best Breakfast in town

Great food, cheap beer, what more can you want. With Covid19 the App is great to order both food & drink.

Our first visit to weatherspoons since start or Covid lockdown although a little apprehensive
It was ok. Not to many people at 0930 with plenty of social distancing

Awful experience
Jul 2020 • Couples
It would appear that during lockdown the kitchen staff lost their ability and since coming back simply can’t be bothered, the food was dry over nuked and looked as bad as it tasted, the tables weren’t clean and the furniture tatty, we were in and out within 30 minutes, we ordered food it came the disappointment hit and we couldn’t wait to leave, not to mention the cutlery wasn’t clean, which is extremely worrying during the current pandemic, there were forms at the door for track and trace but no one monitoring, people just came walking in, the place wasn’t clean, the food was terrible and it didn’t feel safe I won’t visit this venue again , and would not recommend it.

Great value for money ! One of the better Spoons . Han the gammon which was exceptional. The rest of the part (5) all enjoyed their meals including the vegetarian ! I know it is not real ale but I always enjoy the John Smiths in here , especially at £1:99.

Slightly disappointed
Oct 2019 • Couples
My wife and I went to this Wetherspoon pup in Whitehaven for Steak Club night on the evening of the 01/10/2019. We ended up being disappointed as they had run out of steaks, something I could forgive on any other night, but Steak Club night! We ended up ordering Scampi and Chips but even then the garden peas came out cold. Overall what a disappointment.

Visited twice
Jul 2019 • Couples
While staying nearby for a week's holiday my wife and I visited The Bransty Arch twice. The Bransty Arch is a Wetherspoon pub with the same menu as any other. You pay for what you get .The price we paid was more than reasonable for what we had. To say how busy the place was the service was excellent. The place was reasonably clean and we will certainly be visiting again next year when we we return to Whitehaven.

The food here is as you would expect with a Wetherspoon - and it's normally pretty good. I certainly can't complain about the 'Pulled Chicken, Avocado and Maple Bacon Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette' - apart from the amount of dressing. This came in a small pot - about 1/3 full. I asked for some more and after the waitress and gone to see if this was possible, the response came back that I would have to pay. I didn't bother to ask how much ...
This soured what was otherwise a pleasant visit. Isn't there some proverb about "a ha'porth of tar"?
