Up and coming place. You can see it's had a lot of money spent on it the last couple of years. Nice place to have a stroll.

We visited the Rum Story after discovering it on Google for places to visit in Whitehaven. It's very informative and interesting about the lives of the Jefferson family, slavery and rum making. There's lots to see and read and you can spend as much or as little time as you wish going round everything. The lady who gave us our... More

I tried to go into the Rum story cafe with my daughter who can not have dairy and was told they do not do soya milk. This was frustrating as we were trying to support an independent business, rather than a chain- which we had to go to in the end. A large percentage of the population is lactose intolerant... More

We visited The Rum Story as a wet day activity. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, making sure we had all the information we needed to start our walk around the museum. There isn't a lot of artifacts to look at but there was a lot of really interesting information to read and videos to watch on your way... More

Saw this museum advertised on the web, but didn't rush to visit as wasn't sure if it would appeal, but we found this extremely informative. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. The subject material may be a little difficult for young children but every child over 8 should get an experience of this as it's a real eye- opener... More

West Cumbria has a lot in common with grimy Lanarkshire in terms of coal mines and iron but I didn't realise Whitehaven had such a seafaring past... More
