We were a party of twelve, with seven adults and five teenagers who all enjoyed our visit. Plenty to engage all ages and a fascinating survival of local social history - worth a visit.

Guided tour took around 50 minutes. Tracy (the guide) was a master of her subject and painted a compelling picture of what it must have been like for the men and boys working long repetitive hours in the mill in Victorian times. The manufacturing process...More

Really enjoyed walking around the site before the tour as it is set in a nice quite site. The tour was really informative and a full overview of the mill and its history was given. The guide was lovely and allowed plenty of time for...More

Looking through the things to do list we came upon the Stott Park Bobbin Mill. We thought that this would give us an insight into how an order but essential piece of equipment used in the weaving factories and the home was created. We were...More

We loved this fascinating little museum and the light it shed on the past. The buildings and contents have been beautifully preserved giving an amazing incite into previous times. The staff were lovely and took us on a really interesting guided tour.

Time your visit to include a tour to get the full value, but leave time to explore, too, for this is an absolutely unique site, in full working order. It is such an exceptional survivor. You will see bobbins made and understand just how important...More

Really nice English Heritage museum, they only do tours at certain times so check before going. They show you how a bobbin is made from start to finish. Went as an English heritage member which is really good value but I think at £8.70 each...More

The mill has all the old machinary still in place. I would recommend going on the guided tour. The guide explains about the machine and history and will show some of the machinary in action.

We visited in September and had a fascinating tour of this old bobbin mill. It is in working order and the tour included demonstrations of making bobbins as well as some of the history of the trade in the UK.
