Went here today as a member of English Heritage, the tour guide was fantastic and clearly passionate about the process of bobbin making! The factory is still operational on a small scale and the visitor involvement was great. Would highly recommend

My husband suggested we (with 2 children aged 6 and 12) go after seeing it on Country File. We took some convincing especially my 12 year old but if it meant a day not walking uphill and lunch out she agreed. What a pleasant surprise...More

I have been here a couple of times now and enjoyed listening to the information about the local industries and how the bobbin mill worked and the life of the people in the area. Well worth a visit.

Stott park bobbin gives you a clue. Steam engine ,river and wool all goes together with the looms and weaving sheds. It can be cold up here so jumpers, wool coats , woolen undergarments all needed. This is an English heritage site.

This English Heritage museum really excelled my expectations and it is very well worth a visit. The pre-Victorian Mill built in 1835 is very well preserved and was still producing bobbins until 1971. The guided tour is excellent and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and...More

I’m not sure that you can take them around the factory but I do remember seeing a dog there so it’s worth giving them a ring
