Spacious & Safe
Aug 2021
Good to see that this excellent independent bookshop has survived CoV & is thriving. Lovely to have the freedom to walk around again, yet still being very CoV safe. I went in looking for maps & have come out with those & a list of birthday present “wants”!

This is how bookshops should be, excellent range, friendly staff, old and new books and time and room to explore. We also received a free bookmark :)

Book shop heaven

There wasn't much to do in Sedbergh towards the end of lockdown but we found ourselves in this lovely bookshop. The staff were friendly and courteous and we lost ourselves among the shelves for a pleasant hour. They have a super local interest section.

Great Variety

As a Sedbergh local I’m lucky to be able to visit frequently & I’m never disappointed. This is a light bright space which doesn’t smell musty like many 2nd hand bookshops. Also sells modern new novels - but most of space is for used books. All the “ologies” upstairs. Natural & local history downstairs. A good selection of craft books at the far end. Has an excellent selection of unusual & quality greetings cards.

Sublime 2nd hand bookstore
Apr 2019 • Couples
Unbelievable! Drove there especially and it was definitely worth it. For the first time in years a proper bookshop where the staff are informed and know their authors, have an unusually wide range of books from Cocteau, Stephen King, Eric Mendelsohn, Dick Wilson to more. Left with a box of books and extremely happy.
Just 10 miles from Kendal.

Upstairs there's a comfy sofa in this treasure trove of a shop. Don't miss the very back where there's also CD's

All you could want in a second hand bookshop
Sep 2018 • Couples
We have visited Westwood Books on a number of occasions and it is a wonderful place to settle after a good walk with soft and squishy sofas on the first floor and toilets on the ground floor. They have a ramp to access the front entrance as well as steps and the toilet is on the ground floor with OS maps on the walls. A lot of the interesting books will be hard to access if you have mobility issues, but I'm sure they will be brought to you if you require and thankfully there is good clearance between the sections on the ground floor. The coffee is too hot to drink from the machine, but this has been the only fault we can find after many visits.
