Overview
More
Situated on the Southern tip of Lake Windermere. Lakes Aquarium has a wide range of native marine and freshwater fish including Pike, Arctic Char, Seahorses and more. It is also home to Asian shortclawed otters, pygmy marmoset monkeys, Clown fish and amazing leaf cutter ants. Cafes and giftshops are available onsite and we can be reached by Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway or Windermere Lake Cruise as well as by car. Please note the car park is not owned by the aquarium and is pay and display. We are sorry but we cannot allow dogs inside the aquarium building.

Arrived (after taking the steam train here) and decided to visit. (we'd already taken a boat cruise elsewhere). The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. Took the lift up to the top floor and followed each exhibit. Some fine local specimens (Pike, Perch, Rudd, Bream)...More

Enjoyed visiting the aquarium, lots to see and do. Can pop in and out as you please and visit other things near by. The steam train and the little cafe next door are brilliant. Beautiful views also.

What to do to entertain youngsters in the Lakes and teach them something into the bargain on a Saturday? The premise of the Lakes Aquarium is to chart the journey from Windermere to Morecambe Bay. The "local" theme offered something different. A sort of mini...More

Great family experience, especially if weather is bad as indoors. Good array of animals and creatures to look at and they are currently in process of getting new and interesting animals.

Fantastic value for money and much better than any of the Sealife centres you get up and down the country. We took a steam train ride up from Haverthwaite and then visited the aquarium! Well worth a visit !!!

This aquarium was a brilliant place to stop and see. The otters were adorable and we all especially liked the tunnel as we hadn't seen one with fresh water fish before it was really nice to see the pike. It was a shame there was...More
