Situated on the Southern tip of Lake Windermere. Lakes Aquarium has a wide range of native marine and freshwater fish including Pike, Arctic Char, Seahorses and more. It is also home to Asian shortclawed otters, pygmy marmoset monkeys, Clown fish and amazing leaf cutter ants. Cafes and giftshops are available onsite and we can be reached by Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway or Windermere Lake Cruise as well as by car. Please note the car park is not owned by the aquarium and is pay and display. We are sorry but we cannot allow dogs inside the aquarium building.

I never find that I can spend too long in aquariums but is it worth a visit, yes. We combined this with a boat trip up Windermere to Bowness and back and did the aquarium at both ends of the day. Thoroughly enjoyable day out....More

We visited on a cold and miserable day in April. We were in the building no more than 30 minutes! Not very exciting, murky tanks which could do with a clean and what seemed like 1500 children running around and preventing us from walking through...More

Visited on a rainy morning and pleasantly surprised. It's not huge, but has plenty to interest adults and children and our daughters (11 & 8) very much enjoyed the visit. Takes no more than an hour or so to look round. Lunch at Oscar's cafe...More

We have been to lots of aquariums. This one is OK but we have been to better ones. It would probably suit younger children best. That said it would make a decent family outing on a wet day in the lakes. Also, weather permitting, it’s...More
