Situated on the Southern tip of Lake Windermere. Lakes Aquarium has a wide range of native marine and freshwater fish including Pike, Arctic Char, Seahorses and more. It is also home to Asian shortclawed otters, pygmy marmoset monkeys, Clown fish and amazing leaf cutter ants. Cafes and giftshops are available onsite and we can be reached by Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway or Windermere Lake Cruise as well as by car. Please note the car park is not owned by the aquarium and is pay and display. We are sorry but we cannot allow dogs inside the aquarium building.

We came to the lakes with our 3month daughter so we were limited to what we could do but after reading baby's like aquariums and trying the theory in a garden centre we thought it would be a nice day trip. On arrival we was...More

I’ll start with saying an hour or two here is enough time so if you’re looking for something longer this perhaps might not be it That said it’s very enjoyable and interesting with some quirky little bits like the live ant farm which was wonderful...More

Strange perhaps but not so! We enjoyed our visit and part of that was seeing one or two youngsters' enjoyment as they led their parents round the exhibits, and back again. The otters' sizeable well-appointed area and the fish tunnel with it's underwater view of...More

The lakes aquarium is a good place to go if you want to kill a couple of hours! It is very interesting to see animals that you wouldn’t normally see in an aquarium. It is reasonably priced and you are able to go and come...More

My wife and I visited the aquarium with my 3 year old grandson and his parents on 31/10/17. This was our first visit here. We really enjoyed this visit. The staff were excellent and seemed to be very caring towards the fish and animals. There...More

Nearly didn’t go as reviews mixed. As aquariums go it’s small but what it lacks in size it makes up for with the quality of fish. The fish tunnel and the ray pool are the stars. Worth a look

This is a very pleasant family attraction, with a good range of species on display, a great walk-through aquarium, a pair of otters, and a "hands on" section for children. Plenty of interesting information and nicely laid-out, and it's not just fish - leafcutter ants,...More

This aquarium is lovely and the tanks and a animals are all well cared for. The only downside is that we went round the whole attraction in 40 minutes even with two small children walking. It was £14.50 for a family ticket which wasn't too...More

Lovely little aquarium. Would highly recommend taking the steam train and combining the two to fill the day. The aquarium is small but there is lots to see and kept us entertained.
