Amazing choice of cheeses and all perfectly kept. The chap serving knew all there was to know and more. Great to taste prior to purchase and as others have said you will buy more than you came in for. Great breads, next door (made by Fat Flour in Cark) along with great deli items. Definite visit.

Being a cheese-aholic this was a holiday must visit. Hundreds of speciality cheeses and a very knowledgeable proprietor. I left with more than I meant to but not more than I can manage! Superb for any cheese buff.

Q) What is a Cheesemonger? A) A tradesperson who specializes in cheese. Q) What is a Good Cheesemonger? A) Cartmel Cheeses! There is nothing they don't know. Their passion shows. It's an 'Aladins Cave of Cheesy Delights' with a good helping of good old customer service. A toy box for the taste buds!

Well informed and knowledgeable owners/staff. Good suggestions, happy for you to sample before purchase, fabulous artisan bread. Wonderful produce that would have made wonderful presents for cheese lovers if only we hadn't succumbed and eaten it ourselves!

A great selection of British and continental cheeses perfectly kept. Try the sausage rolls too. The shop has a good selection of artisan breads and other deli supplies. If it's nice out then a table in unsworn his yard with a cheese board and a pint from the adjacent brewery or a glass of wine from hot wines a few... More

Perfect weather, had a bottle of red and a selection of cheeses and crackers. Sat in the outdoor garden and soaked up the glorious weather enjoying the delectable cheese and crackers and wonderful wine. Great way to spend a couple of hours.

A fantastic cheese shop with over 50 cheeses to choose from but no smoked cheeses. Staff were very helpful and helped me pick 3 cheeses to suit my tastes. As other reviews have said I spent £18 on 3 small/medium size bits of cheese which were all tasty. While we were there we saw a few people leave without buying... More

You know its proper, because you enter through an hermetically sealed door. A nice array of cheeses, and you are offered a taste of any you are interested in. Sadly they don't have an old fashioned crumbly salty Lancashire, only the "creamy Mrs Kirkham's". We had Appleby Cheshire instead and a local soft called St. James, both very good.
