Great selection

Very knowledgeable owners have a great selection of superb artisan cheeses, some local, some further afield. Great knowledge, lovely cheese.

Visited Cartmel for the weekend & recommended to go here. We bought a selection of 3 cheeses, bread from the bakers & beer from the brewery and sat outside under the heaters. The lady serving was so friendly and gave us tasters of different cheeses then wrapped up what we hadn't eaten. We will certainly return.

Excellent range of cheeses, their origins given in detail (where known and relevant) and their constituents. Tasters offered without hesitation Easy to over-buy when faced with the choice available, and can get expensive. Quality, however, should overcome!

Heard about this gem from a colleague recently so we took the opportunity to visit during our stay with close family in Allithwaite. This was a cheese lovers paradise with local and continental cheese on display.A added bonus for me at least was the labels with information on each cheese with detail of producer county etc. Although as a devoted... For any cheese lover this is not to be missed. A most amazing range of cheeses and the staff are so helpful. Visited a few times and always come home with a great variety of cheese.

Absolutely wonderful range of cheeses. We were able to choose a selection, choose some bread and chutney and were given a board and a knife to sit outside and eat our selection. Really beautiful tasting cheese. We were so impressed that we returned the following day and purchased some as a gift and some for ourselves to take home. Yummy!

Don't visit Cartmel without visiting here and stocking up on their amazing cheeses. The selection is huge and you can test before you buy. Be sure to buy some Marmite and cheese bread from next door too!

Great cheese shop and bakery. Lots to chose from and the lady who served us asked if we wanted to try before we purchased, a nice touch as there are quite a few different cheeses to chose from. Not the cheapest but there's always Sainsbury's basic cheddar if you're tight. The brewery and wine shop either side of the cheese... More

My wife and I was staying at Netherwood Hotel and visiting the Priory in Carmel that we noticed the Cheese Shop and found the selection very good and the knowledge and helpfulness by the owner was excellent ( walked away spending about £50.00). Well worth the visit.

Change the saying 'like a kid in a sweet shop' to 'like an adult in a cheese shop' and you'll be close to getting an idea of this place. It was actually exciting :-)
