Westernmost boundary of the northern part of Lake District. Great walking but need to walk along 6 miles of forestry track to get to walks up Haystack or Pillar/Haycock. Easy /pretty drive to Crummock/Buttermere as well

I’ve walked around Ennerdale Water several times. There’s always something different to be seen. A little more out of the way than other spots in the Lakes but that is also one of the attractions. The full circuit around the water is a fair distance...More

Lovely, quiet and relaxed. Plenty of walking options that you can take and, for the most part, relatively easy. Two different car parks at both sides of the lake, both of which are quiet and have plenty of space, and dogs are allowed.

Spent a week here and the place is lovely, plenty of walks in the area and climbs, Pillar, Scafell and walks around the Lake for those who are less able to climb.

Appoximately 3 hours will be needed to walk around the lake, and stout boots will be needed but the walk is a beautiful link with nature.

A walk around Ennerdale is always a must whenever I'm in the area. In all it is around 6 miles all the way around. One half is easy walking whilst the other half can be a bit slippery and does involve some scrambling over rocks....More

A walk around the lake involved road, scrub, bracken, woods, bog and one slightly scary scramble over an outcrop or two. But amazing walk. Took us 5 hours for a 6 mile walk.

It seems silly writing a review of a lake but if you’re looking for somewhere to visit then this is a must. Beautiful scenery and outstanding landscape. Breathtaking. Take your camera!

No. Car parking is free, but there are donation boxes. I always drop a couple of pound in if there a while
