Great choice

Loads of choice to get yourself a bargain, all of the stall owners are well established and know their stuff, often they are children or grandchildren of the original owners!

I visit this market once or twice a month on average as I find it really good value for food, particularly fruit and Veg. There is an inside market hall and an outside stall area. On a Wed this is a Carboot style market which is good for bargains. The main market hall has a wide variety of stalls and... More

This is a poor example of a true British market, the stalls are not well set out and there is nothing that you carnt buy in other shops in the town

Hi Thanks for your review and we hope you will return. One of the advantages of shopping at the market is the personal service you can get from our stallholders. More

Don't visit often as there is nothing really in here that we need. Ok for Christmas shopping ideas I suppose or a unusual gift.

I imagine most visitors to Widnes are there for a family event or to visit Liverpool by train. Two bridges (road and rail) span the Mersey and are very attractive. A third is being built along with a new road system which is making Runcorn hard to navigate even for locals. The first sight of Widnes across the bridge is... More

I live in Widnes but have to say there market is nothing special, in fact I would say the best thing about it that probably is worth a visit is the butchers near the exit to the outdoor market, they make fresh barns to order with a good selection of toppings and they always taste really fresh. And sometimes they... More

Never ever been to Widnes before today. Got here via train from Oxford red mcr- an OK journey all told thru Warrington etc. Set off on foot got lost ended up @ the market. Bustling and busy and some okay stalls covered and uncovered and some very friendly locals. Nowhere near as uninteresting as I'd erroneously thought. Took off on... More

Thanks for the review, its great to find something and then find its different than you thought. By the way, the Bongs may not be what you think it is! It's "Old Cheshire" language meaning a bit of wooded land near a stream (a little stream called Bowers Brook runs though the area.) Anyway, glad you had a good time... More

Got great memories of Widnes market. But it seems to be in decline, lots of empty stalls and quite a few old faces missing. There is a need and people do attend, is it a lack of funding and foresight from the council? Good luck yo the stall holders i hope you get the support that you deserve.
