Second visit to this great pub
Jan 2020 • Solo
I've been here twice whilst watching my football team visit Gresty Road.
It's worth the 20 minute walk from the railway station.
Great little old fashioned pub. Nice staff. Good customers.
At least 8 excellent well kept real ales and lots of continental lagers.
Definitely worth a visit for any serious drinkers .

My husbands favourite drinking place
May 2019 • Friends
Small and intimate atmosphere but an ideal pub for all real ale fans. There are a minimum of 8 craft ales + continental beer & ciders on draught and the baps are pretty goof should you feel peckish. Go and pay a visit you won't be disappointed.

OK, but not for us
Jan 2019 • Friends
It sort of worked. The staff were very helpful. We enjoyed the food.
It was very convenient for birthday girl, who is in a wheelchair. She happened to arrive first and had to wait on the main road for someone to unlock a door to the bar. It was trying to rain.
We arranged to have our celebratory meal in the bar, not a nice restaurant, as the bar was on the same level as the disabled toilet. It is not the hotel’s fault that there were wedding guests, and another large party having pre-meal drinks in the bar, but for the 3 of us squeezed into a corner didn’t feel like a birthday treat.
Sitting under a TV showing football didn’t help. I felt we were being watched eating by the supporters.
We enjoyed the starters. For the main, I like having a pie on my plate, rather than in a bowl on my plate.
The young lady behind the bar could not have been more helpful.
Not really for us.

Old fashioned pub with real ales
Feb 2016 • Solo
A Saturday afternoon quiet pint. Nine real ales on offer. Marbles Manchester bitter was excellent. Unfortunately no stouts or porters on offer.
Pies etc on sale from old fashioned cover on the bar.
Most customers seemed to be regulars.
Nice cosy seating areas. Friendly service.

Real ale pub
Oct 2015 • Couples
They have a nice selection of european and english beers only one draught cider though. The bar upstairs is nice the Gents is tiny and not nice.
We went down stairs it was cold smelt damp and the toilets where out of order and where the last time we went.
Overall the pub (upstairs) is nice warm and welcoming and I like it, the regulars clicky and dont talk to people they dont know and if you cannot get a seat in the upstairs bar dont bother.

Great selection of cask ales, ciders and beers
Oct 2015 • Friends
Visited for pre-theatre drinks with friends. It is one of the best pubs in Crewe with a very wide selection of cask ales. I'm a fan of European white beer and I think I counted at least 3 on cask and another few in bottles. Many ciders, stouts, beers and ales (my friend rated the dark Ruby). For a large selection for a relatively small pub, the barrel management is excellent.
Clean and tidy, very much more of a mature drinking spot (not a bar!) But if you're after a good pint of real ale, in a friendly pub. This is the place for you.
