War memorial in Crewe - Statue of Brittania
Aug 2018 • Couples
We had a day in Crewe before our canal boat trip so we walked into town from the station to explore - Crewe it self is a typical town where we found lots of things to keep us interested - this War Memorial to those form Crewe who lost their lives held a special place in the square were the flowers seemed to be just coming out.
Interesting in that it shows a statue of Britannia with the name panels around her.

Nice Memorial

Crewe War Memorial is a great reminder of those who died fighting for the UK in wars, the monument is both tasteful and modern and is obviously free to visit. This is well worth a few minutes of your time if you are in Crewe town centre.

It is good to remind us that we are all the same in all the countries.
The wars are fought for the oil or other resources and not for peace!
Now they are waging a war against terrorism so they don't need to finish it ever! :/
Big military business is counting the profits, banks the same - only minions are the ones who are loosing: life, families, health and money.
We are spirit in this human body/vehicle for short time - work on your karma!

Interesting

In the centre of town the memorial and gardens are well kept, and good seating for a spot of people watching!
The area is especially eye catching when all the poppies are in the trees for Remembrance Sunday.
We have been here on a few occasions now and find it very interesting.

Very well kept and cared for monument

the trees look very nice with knitted/crocheted poppies. All the trees are now decorated with fairy lights ready for Christmas. The square normally looks very well maintained but at this time of the year it looks particularly Christmassy.

The memorial is good to look at now it has been repositioned. Lots of seating around it so you can look at the flowers and people watch! It is in the middle of town, so you can have a seat while you're shopping, also directly across from the local Market Hall and stalls in the town centre.

There was uproar amonst many when the war memorial was moved from the main square in Crewe, however it has proved to be a great idea and is one of the most pleasant areas of the town.

Good location

Visited Crewe and as we were walking in to the town centre we passed Municipal Square and came across this War Memorial. It is right in the centre of the square and is a very large bronze statue of Britannia standing on chains and holding trident and palm leaf. There are names of those who gave up their lives in the world wars from Crewe. around the memorial.
