Good selection of ale available and served-up by passionate bar staff. After a hot muggy day I asked for a pint of bitter that was a little hoppy and refreshing but not citrussy or pale coloured, (not too much to ask for I hear you say!) . Got it though!! ...and had to have a few more. It's just so good to find a pub where you can ask barstaff to recommend a beer to suit your mood. There's very few like this gem of a pub. Be sure you visit this great place!

While away on a canal boat, we relied on Maps with review scores to guide us on potential stops and that did not let us down. The Ale Taster is a fantastic place to visit. The landlady was really friendly, the other regulars were happy to chat and we whiled a way a couple of hours with some delicious beers & ciders, in great company. This stop is now somewhere we will make a bee-line for when we’re next in the area.

This is real pub with a nice atmosphere and plenty of real ales to satisfy the serious beer chaser.
Its different to other pubs on several fronts - the warm welcome, excellent covid protection for the staff and customers, a great selection of locally brewed ales and a wide selection of bottled beer, lager and stouts.
The garden accommodation has protection from the weather as well as covid and the toilet arrangements - green light, red light to assist social distancing are an experience.
If you are looking for a quiet drink and a friendly atmosphere you should try it.

The Ale Taster is a fantastic micro pub. I always call in when in St Neots. The real ales are always changing and well kept. The landlord and landlady are always very welcoming. Great value for a pint. Also local gins and cider 👍😂👍

Every time I come to St Neots I have to visit. Well looked after beer. Lots of cider and guns and busy at 1830 on a Saturday so I cannot be wrong. If you love real ale check his venue out🍺

First time visiting this pub today. I was having a nice drink with my dad on Christmas Eve, I decided to show my dad a quick 20 second video on my iPhone and the barman/owner very rudely asked us to turn it down as apparently the noise was travelling the pub (it really wasn’t as I am always very considerate of people). The relatively few number of people in the bar on Christmas Eve were chatting and no one was concerned by us playing this 20 second video. The bar lady who served us was really lovely so no issues there at all, however the sheer and unnecessary rudeness of the barman/ owner was such that we will never step foot in this establishment again and as a St Neots family shall be warming our family and many friends to AVOID!!! I very rarely write negative reviews as I always like to support small local businesses however I am so offended by the bad service we received. Really disappointing!

Great pub, nice beer, friendly customers. THE BEST Covid regulations and very strictly kept to by owners and customers. Well done!

Great range of beers and ciders on tap, with 4 fridges at the back filled with beers from around the world - especially good selection from Germany & Belgium. Chill vibe inside and dog friendly.

A new business venture that deserves to prosper.
Excellent ale and a good range of low alcohol drinks which kept my other half happy.
It seems based on the philosophy of the Fat Cat in Ipswich and in Norwich. No loud music, no slot machines and no cooked meals. Somewhere to go and have a conversation, over a beer, if anyone remembers that.
Comfortable inside and what a great use of space in the rear garden.
Friendly barman, what else could you want?
Tip: Watch opening times though, some days it does not open until 16.00.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who wants loud music or well known beer and lager. This is a small pub selling craft beers and cider. Great atmosphere and the landlord and landlady are very welcoming. A good addition to St.Neots.
