The park of a colonial city ... It is not something extraordinary, but if it is good to hang out. When I was there, there was a free musical performance by a local indigenous group. It is a picturesque little place where they sell all kinds of local folk food. If you will only make the trip just to see that place, I would not recommend it ... Only if you are passing through.

Lovely plaza in the middle of town, surrounded by the church, stores, restaurants and bars.
Ambiance is nice especially during weekends.

There are many kiosks with local products and during the evenings they play music and there is folk dancing.

By the time our bus stopped at Plaza e Parque Principal Francisco Canton Rosado, Villadolid, our group was guessing how much $$ the tour guide and company get for stopping the tour bus there. This was the last stop back to the resort on the Viatar tour, and we were tired, and still had a long bus ride ahead of us. As others have shared, there was nothing special here, and very few businesses around the square were even catering to tourist. I wonder if the tour guide (and bus driver) like to stop there, so that their riders use a toilet other than the one on the bus. The tour guide told us early that morning, that ‘going number one was ok, but do not go number two ‘ on the bus toilet. So, I can report that the ‘public bathrooms’ on the Plaza e Parque Principal Francisco Canton Rosado, looked like they hadn’t been cleaned or flushed in days.

We were staying a couple of nights in Valladolid. After walking around town today, we stopped for a rest in this park square, making use of the “conversation” chairs. Then, at 5:00pm, a Mayan dance troupe appeared for a 30 minute performance. Apparently this is a frequent thing, not advertised. So take a look. The dancers collected tips and offered to pose for photos (for a tip) at the end. Fun!

Francisco Canton square is in the very center of Valladolid with a gorgeous Cathedral dominating it.
It's a classic Spanish style plaza, rectangular in shape with many trees and benches, as well a fountain in the middle. Here you will also find the double curved lover chairs like in Merida.
The park is specially nice after dusk with many locals and street vendors around.

Nice plaza in the centre of Valladolid town. Its opposite the church has plenty of seating and is surrounded by souvenir shops.

You really don’t need tonnes of time here as it’s relatively small we stopped here after some lunch as part of our tour. We walked around for about 20 minutes to take some photos and have a look in the local shops.

Came here as part of our tour and spent about 30 minutes. It was a great place to walk around eat churros and elote and take pictures of the cathedral. It gets 5 stars because it was free and I enjoyed myself. I would stop by if you are in the area but I wouldn’t make a special trip here.

We stopped at the Valladolid main town square on our way back from visiting Chichen Itza.

Here you’ll see a church, a small park with water fountain and many sellers offering souvenirs and snacks. Don't miss seeing the conversation chairs for two(one of the attractions in the town square park). Try marquesitas and churos..they were yummy!

We only had 30mnts and was not sufficient. Just walking around the square, you can easily spend a couple hours. I am sure there are several other places you can explore nearby including the cenotes. I would plan for the entire day when visiting Valladolid next time.

The park here is very beautiful and offers some amazing picture opportunities with the Cathedral de San Servasio in the background. The found is a stunning centrepiece and the park is full of character and a buzzing atmosphere.

This park has a nice fountain in the middle with plenty of places to sit and shade trees. It's a good place to relax, watch people, and soak up the sites.
