I strongly advise combining this with the Mayan ruins of Uxmal as it's located just on the other side of the street. Entrance fee for adults is 140 pesos/US$ 7 (May 2018). You will learn a lot about the history of the cocoa bean and...More

This is located right across the street from Uxmal and worth a visit. It’s not just the story of chocolate and the Mayans but it has beautiful gardens, some rescued animals ( some you can feed) and a gift shop. There is also a small...More

I only went here because I love chocolate and thought it would be really cheesy and stupid... but it turned out to be a great stop and nice change of pace from all the Ruta Puuc ruins. They had monkeys, jaguars, demonstrations, chocolate tastings and...More

My 8 year old son and I toured this in the late afternoon. We loved this place for it's peaceful setting, hands-on chocolate experiences, and animals - especially spider monkeys. We are not really museum people so didn't spend a lot of time reading the...More

We paid our entrance fee 140mx at 18:10 to find 50% of the attractions closed or persons not willing to perform. No word at the Box office, only the shop is open at 19:30. And, of course, nobody speaks English. Only highlight was the chocolate...More

The museum is based in beautiful grounds with lot’s of flowers, palms and animals. You really learn a lot about the history of the chocolate making but also about the history of Mayan’s in that area . The best bit was to watch how chocolate drink...More

Went as part of a tour I was on. The place was OK but not really worth the 140 Pesos entry. They have several small museum halls set up explaining the history and process of making chocolate. They also do a 15 minute Mayan ceremony...More

Even though we visited on a hot afternoon, the shade and "huts" were refreshing, making it a delightful visit. I appreciated the explanation of why deer, jaguars, and monkeys had made this their home. Best of all was the authentic ceremony to attract Chaac, the...More

We were on a day trip from Merida and stopped in to the choco story. It's a beautiful trail in the Yucutan forest with little thatched huts along the way telling the story of chocolate making and the importance to the Maya. You get to...More

Fascinating. We got there a little late, and saw a torch lit ceremony and romantically lit pathways. The store has wonderful chocolate of many types.
