About
We're an SSI dive center and school (PADI courses also available) based in Mahahual. Our 2 top priorities are: the good health of the reef and the quality of teaching. We believe that scuba diving should belong to divers and not to the diving industry. Our schedule is very flexible. You can always count on us to go the extra mile to make your stay in Costa Maya and its beautiful beaches as pleasant as possible.

Hands down the best dive shop I've been to in any country. The staff were extremely communicative beforehand, the prices are excellent, and every day of diving was absolutely perfect. Really wonderful experience and would highly recommend this shop to anyone wishing to dive in Mahahual.

Working with Oscar and his entire team at Mar Adentro was a pleasure! We were in communication before, during, and after my arrival. He coordinated a great package for me for a week of diving, and even though I had to leave unexpectedly, he was willing to do right by me with a refund.

The equipment was solid, the team is well-organized, professional, funny, and kind. Groups were small - no more than 3 per dive master while I was there, and just generally great to be around. All of that and they were the most reasonable pricing of all the shops in Mahahual – I contacted 5+ before I arrived, and was recommended here by a friend.

Looking forward to returning after this pandemic subsides! The diving and wildlife here are excellent!

Booked 2 dives at Mar Adentro and was very impressed and pleased about the dive staff. Excellent briefing, 1st Quality Rental Equipment, very nice relaxed dives. Sophia Maria is an excellent dive master who has an eye for good catches and not to forget the fellow divers. Actual to make a long story short! Mar Adrento Diving I can highly recommend to everybody who likes Scuba Diving!

Great experience all around. Each and every one of the staff was kind, helpful and working to make sure we had a great experience. Dive master Walt was one of the best dive masters I’ve ever had lead the dives - great ability to find the best sights - from turtles to lion fish to hiding lobsters and a huge moray. And Walt was patient and safe but made sure we covered a lot of great underwater terrain. Awesome time - thanks!

So many solid PADI certified dive companies in Mahuhual but Monica from MAD gave me an excellent informative technical explanation in perfect English as to what was involved in the different tours MAD offer. The captain, reef guide and dive master on our tour were super friendly, safety conscious, helpful and knowledgeable, and the shallow reefs were awash with sealife.

The tour was so enjoyable in fact, we booked in straight away for their Discover PADI course for my pal and a fun dive for me the following morning. True to form, MAD ensured all the dive gear was was in mint condition and fit perfectly before we began. Our instructor Danielle's wonderful patient and reassuring manner of teaching, had my friend feeling confident and comfortable enough to get over his deep rooted fears and enjoy the dive enough and be wanting more! And all the memories of why diving is one if the most incredible life experiences came flooding back to me. Well done to all involved!!

Recommended by friends but terrible experience. The person assigned to receive us did not show up for the appointment to try and choose the equipment before the dive. Contacted on the phone he replied that he had commitments and closed the diving. He gives us an appointment the next morning before the dive, making us get up at dawn and he shows up late. The excitement of an important dive and snorkeling 2 hours away from the coast begins to give rise to anxiety and worry. Equipment chosen with great approximation. He accompanies us to the boat and disappears without telling us that others will accompany us on the dive to the famous Banco Chinchorro. We find ourselves disoriented. Fortunately, the other dive team on board proves attentive and professional. We are talking about spending almost 15,000 pesos for an excursion, or more than €800. Once you reach the dive point, the regulators lose air from various points. Little air, but a sign of poor maintenance in my opinion. Upon returning to the pier the guy doesn't show up for the appointment, much to the anger of his colleagues who called him numerous times on the phone. In all this he wanted to be paid cash but never gave us the rest of our payment. A few tens of euros but frankly I had no desire to give other gifts after this bad and unprofessional experience.

Saluti

I have been studying for most of my life and in different fields, so I have had many instructors and have an idea what makes a good one and a bad one. Óscar is by a large margin the best I ever met. What initially was planned as doing "only" the AOW with Mar Adentro, turned into a follow up with a Deep Diving specialty and now continues with the Rescue Diver course.
From the instant I walked into the dive shop I felt welcomed. The atmosphere is so warm and the care towards customers so genuine, that you feel you're part of the family. This is by far the best service I received anywhere.
There are many things to say, because Óscar is an excellent teacher. He learned me technique - taught me buoyancy control, corrected my kick, corrected my trim - showed me what I was doing, in which way it was wrong, how to do it right, then reinforced it repeatedly underwater. Before each of the five specialty dives, we sat down together and reviewed the theory, discussed issues and practiced skills on land. His genuine care and interest in my progress made it a joy to go diving and helped me gain confidence in my skills. There is no cutting corners regarding his time and his effort; he offers both generously. And more than keeping me safe, he taught me how to keep myself safe. I was impressed by his, Noé and Cosgaya's level of dedication to their customers; this is simply the best teaching and diving experience I ever had.
Diving in Mahahual is beautiful: there are many kilometers of reefs and corals, landscapes that remind of the Moon, canyons to dive through and drop offs to peak into a world deep under. It's hard to make this experience justice. As I've said to all my friends, everybody should come diving with Mar Adentro. Or as another friend put it, after diving with Óscar, all other dive shops will disappoint you in comparison.

The best dive shop you can find on the Caribbean Sea. The whole experience and the way of teaching is outstanding. I had my Open Water certification made here one year ago and came back to get my Advanced PADI, without a doubt I would recommend Mar Adentro 100% it has gave me fabulous life experiences combined with an awesome friendship.

Glad to met such wonderful staffs on my first scuba dive. They were very supportive and caring, they explained all the details clearly and was with me all the way from practice dive to the our actual dive. I felt safe and so I really enjoyed my first experience, they even supported my tank and guided me to view all the best spots. I like to thank them for my wonderful dive.

Booked this through Shoreexcursioneer. It was very basic. A short boat trip, a very brief visit to a small reef outcrop, the rest of the time was swimming over sea grass to see a couple of turtles. Not much color on the reef and few fish. Reminded me of snorkel excursions I've taken on dying reefs further north. Expected a great reef, didn't get it.
