About Mar Adentro Diving
We're an SSI dive center and school (PADI courses also available) based in Mahahual. Our 2 top priorities are: the good health of the reef and the quality of teaching. We believe that scuba diving should belong to divers and not to the diving industry. Our schedule is very flexible. You can always count on us to go the extra mile to make your stay in Costa Maya and its beautiful beaches as pleasant as possible.

Second time diving with Mar Adentro, again, great experience. Every time the staff has been amazing, great divers and always looking out for the safety and enjoyment of their costumers. Great communication regarding dive sites and expectations for the dives. Every time we dive with Mar Adentro is a great experience and would definately recommend diving with them. I was transmitted the passion for diving from the team and now im on my way to, hopefully, become a Dive Master, so if you´re beginning or an advanced diver, Mar Adentro would be my first recommendation to dive Mahahual and the surrounding dive sites.

I had the opportunity in December 2021 to dive with the good people of Mar Aderntro and it was a fantastic time. Safe, comfortable, and a pure pleasure. Highlights of the trip as always is the team at Mar Adentro who are so very customer service oriented. On this visit to Mahahual our crew took the opportunity for an excursion to Xcalak to dive with the tarpon and it was amazing. Lots of small fish on the swim in and the school of tarpon that played with us pretty much the entire dive. Couple this with the chance to see a manatee and this is a dive not to be missed.

So many solid PADI certified dive companies in Mahuhual but Monica from MAD gave me an excellent informative technical explanation in perfect English as to what was involved in the different tours MAD offer. The captain, reef guide and dive master on our tour were super friendly, safety conscious, helpful and knowledgeable, and the shallow reefs were awash with sealife. The tour was so enjoyable in fact, we booked in straight away for their Discover PADI course for my pal and a fun dive for me the following morning. True to form, MAD ensured all the dive gear was was in mint condition and fit perfectly before we began. Our instructor Danielle's wonderful patient and reassuring manner of teaching, had my friend feeling confident and comfortable enough to get over his deep rooted fears and enjoy the dive enough and be wanting more! And all the memories of why diving is one if the most incredible life experiences came flooding back to me. Well done to all involved!!

2 Main Complaints 1. Said it was an English speaking tour - sent 6 people (4- 70+) out in ocean with only 2 Spanish speaking guides. No one could talk to each other. 2. Did not take into account age & activity of individuals. By the time we could get back on boat, everyone was beyond exhausted. 3. No water as promised 4. No real communication when we got there.

Dear Madam, I am sorry for the poor appreciation of the experience you had with us. I must apologize for the absence of an English guide during your tour. Although we normally do offer a guide capable of speaking your language, these days people get sick overnight, you know, and we must change personnel when there is a suspicious case, for the good of all. And it is not always possible for us to find a replacement crew fullfilling our standard skills (Abiding by law snorkel guides and captains have to be Mexican). Anyway, all our other staff at the dive center speak English, and it is inexcusable that they did not inform you that bottle water can be obtained in the center by filling a reusable canteen: we have long since eliminated disposable plastic bottles for ecological reasons. I trust the fruit that was offered to you on board was to your liking. However, I must disagree on your description "out in the ocean". Snorkeling tours are conducted inside the reef lagoon, which average depth is 5 feet. Its calm waters, similar to a swimming pool, are protected from the open sea by a barrier reef that serves as a breakwater. Average conditions are very friendly and safe, as they were yesterday when you and your companions took the tour. The tour consists of an hour in the water, visiting two areas. Our guides - regardless of the languages they speak - take into account the pace of the participants. To be clear: the tour is tailored to the participants' wishes and nobody is forced or challenged. In your party, two people did not want to go into the water and four did. Of these, three decided to return to the boat within five minutes. Only one lady, made the entire tour because that was her will. The whole time she was clinging to the lifebuoy that our guide towed for a whole hour. Despite the efforts made by our crew you rate our service as terrible. I can understand and empathize with your frustration but I deeply regret your estimation that, I daresay, is not fair. Respectfully
