This place was INCREDIBLE! From the moment we arrived it was a warm welcome. Wonderful food, awesome beds with shade to lay on and one of the nicest beaches I've been to in my life. I felt very safe at the venue and the food was fresh and filling. I will 100% be back if I go to Costa Maya again!

We went here on a cruise port day. We had a great day here! The food was delicious & big portions! Beach was nice. Server was very attentive. All inclusive worked out well. I reserved online and took cab straight there to hotel and walked through to the back. Paid cash when we arrived. Reccomend for families, couples, or groups. There were 9 of us that went and we all enjoyed it.

All of the clubs along the Mahahaul beach offer dozens of beach chairs, cabanas, food and drink. Pez Quadro does it in a less crowded atmosphere. If you are looking for a beach party, this is not your place; there are many louder spots further up the beach. This club is at the end of the beach and the water and sand are just as lovely as its counterparts further up the strip.

The mile-long strip of beach in Mahahaul is dotted with hotels and beach clubs and only a 10 minute shuttle ride form the cruise port. The shuttle has 4 marked stops and Pez Quadro is the last/fourth stop (ignore vendors at the first stops who holler that they are the last stop). At the final stop walk through the 40 Canones Hotel and to their beachfront Pez Quadro club. Enjoy the beautiful shallow waters and clean white sands while spending the day sunning in lounge chairs with attentive bar and food service staff.

My fiance and I were on a cruise that had Costa Maya as a port of call. We were looking to have a relaxing beach day while in port. We were opting to go to Maya Chan beach, but when we learned they were booked for the time of our visit, the Maya Chan owner recommended Pez Quadro Beach Club. We were so glad we made this choice! We were able to make our reservations online, and pay the remaining balance at the club once proof of purchase was presented to the onsite agent (there was an Associate of the Hotel present at all times watching the lounge area, making sure everything ran smooth). All it took was a 15 min, $4 trolley ride from Costa Maya port, and we were there at Mahahual beach. The water was crystal clear, the service was spectacular, the food was so delicious and it made for the best beach day. The staff was prompt and very attentive to our needs. We were there on a weekday in the morning so it wasn't too packed :). I loved this spot! It had locals vacationing there and tourists alike, and it was right near the beach walk so we could souvenir shop on our way to get a taxi back to the port. There were plenty of Taxi drivers in the area, ready to make their daily quota and take people back to the port. So getting back to the port on time was not an issue. After visiting, I actually prefer this club above all others, and recommend it to family and friends. I would go back in a second!

I normally don't write reviews but save your money! I made a reservation to this location one week before arriving on our cruise. We had order the all inclusive package with alcohol and lobster. Upon our arrival they said it was not lobster season so we could not get that package, I was disappointed but got the basic package. They required for me to pay upfront, biggest mistake! Not once did a waiter come to get us drinks in the 6 hours we were there. I had to get up every time cross the little road and go to the bar. The waiters were attending anyone who showed up paying by drink, I guess since I pre paid they had no interest in taking care of us as customers. The view and beach was definitely beautiful but service was horrible. The bartender was also adding water to our cocktails to water them down and tasted horrible, we ended up drinking beers which we don't usually since we had paid for $220 worth of food and drinks! We then went to the restaurant and non of the waiters would attend to us, I had to get up many times asking for service. To top it off my husband and myself got food poisoning from their fish and ended up sick for the remainder of our cruise. Costa Maya is tiny and a one strip Beach area. If you are planning a vacation just get a taxi got the strip and many other beach clubs will beg you to stay and they were giving amazing food drinks and live music. They completely ripped me off here! This experience was by far the worst stop in the cruise for us.

What a find this place is! Upon reviews, we decided to go here when our NCL cruise docked in Costa Maya. Don't be fooled by those people who are trying sell you a package($35) to this place unless you are planning to stay and drink all day. Otherwise it is not worth it. We took a shuttle bus for $3 per person to Pez Quadro. It was a very rainy day but not enough to keep us away. Once we arrived, we saw that it was a lovely small resort. They even gave us a tour of the hotel once we asked.

As long as you eat and drink there, the entire resort is free for your use. There were beds to layout in the sun. It looked to be the largest area on the boardwalk. There are massages on the beach for $20 for an hour. Because it was raining, we stayed mostly under the thatched canopy and ordered drinks and meals. There were 8 of us. We ordered 2 meals, 2 orders of nachos, about 6 sodas, a few margaritas, quite a few beers, and a few shots of taquila. The total was about $90.

The people working there are amazing! They are friendly, and we even made friends with a local young boy who sold dried plantain. He sat with us and enjoyed a cola as we didn't want him out in the rain. As the rain subsided, we went out in the water and shopped along the boardwalk.

Later, four of us went back to the ship, while the other four were told of a taquila bar down the boardwalk where it was sold in barrels. Our watier was the one who told them of it, and showed them how to get there. A taxi back was $2/person. Well worth it!!!! I would absolutely go back!

We took a taxi from the cruise ship port to the main walkway along the beach. We had a couple beers along the walk but after viewing the offerings of everything along the way, Pez Quadro seemed to have the most to offer. Toward the more distant end we found Pez Quadro, the most modern and well-appointed facility on the strip. Food was good - sampler plate was $13 USD. The restrooms in this place are also the best on the beach, clean, running water/sinks, towels, soap. This was also where we found many of the cruise ship staff using their laptops - probably with free WiFi. It was simply the cleanest, most modern and professional location we found along this area of beach.

We got off our cruise ship and headed straight for the $4/person trolley (a pick up truck tows it - think trolley at your local zoo). This took us *most* of the way there, but stopped short of our destination by 4 or 5 blocks. We were then approached by a few locals offering to take us on excursions, Bacalar, etc. We politely declined and said we just wanted to get to 40 Cannons. They said if we tipped the driver, he would take us the rest of the way. We did, and he did. Upon arrival, a local named Jaime asked us where we were headed. When we told him, he said that he didn't work for 40 Cannons, but could take us there. After giving us some sage advice about when to buy souvenirs (spoiler: wait until close to when your ship departs), he then conspicuously guided us slightly to the left of our intended goal, and tried very hard to get us to use the beach club next door. SO glad we stuck to our plan, because 40 Cannons is WAY nicer. Note: you have to make a minimum food and beverage purchase of $20/guest to have use of the beach club - a good deal for what you get, and the beach has plenty of shaded loungers to relax in, no umbrellas necessary. Food bought while sitting in the restaurant does NOT count toward this minimum. Order and eat your food at the Pez Quadro beach club that 40 Cannons runs and you're all set (the food is the same as in the restaurant. I highly recommend the shrimp quesadillas ... Best I've ever had!) Also, excellent massages are available and were $20 for about 30-40 mins. Our masseuse, Paolina, was so sweet and did a great job. Thanks to our waiter, Porfino, for the cervesa suggestion. Indio brand is awesome! Be prepared to be approached by a few friendly stray dogs and MANY vendors, all polite, selling there wares while you are there. We broke down and bought some fresh pineapple and mango pieces. So good! This ended up being an easy, enjoyable place to just relax and take in some quality beach time with the family. Very glad we chose 40 Cannons :)

We wanted to get away from the cruise port and bring our young adult travelers to a place that wasn’t “lame”. Thankfully the other beach clubs were booked up because this place was perfect. They had chairs for all 9 of us. Make sure you ask for Louis since he have us outstanding service. We had food and drinks for 9 and it was under $200. Yes- local vendors come by with the usual fare but they were not overbearing. A simple no thank you and the would smile and move on. We took advantage of massages on the beach. We are planning to come back. Our daughter wants to come back and stay at the 40 Canones Hotel (attached to the club)
Don’t forget to ask for Louis.

This was one of the best self lead excursions we've done. The Beach Club was clean and the service was very attentive. Also the massage was the best for the price. Here are the details...

Getting there! Our ship ported in Costa Maya and upon exiting the port realized they had blocked off all exits to the taxis which are behind the shops. We ended up walking pass all the shops to get to what we thought was a taxi stand, only to be sold a $10 wrist band for another beach. Realizing that is not what we wanted we had to walk 2 more blocks to get out of the compound to find dozens of cabs lining the streets. $8 will get us to Mahahaul, but... make sure you get to your destination (pre-download google maps and have the address at hand). The cab driver we had stopped randomly and said we are here. Opened our doors and was ushering us out. We demanded to get to out resort and of course he complied and took us to the end of the road where Pez Quadro was located.

Check In. We was greeted by Carlos who explained everything to us and one thing to note for the folks that are purchasing the all inclusive pass. Its for access to the Beach Club and not the hotel, but you can use the restroom and shower facilities at the hotel (make sure to bring your own towels).

The beach club was very well take care of. Our lounges have shade, but if you are too far from the hotel the wifi will not get there. The food was very good, we both did the lobster package. The wait staff was very prompt with our drinks and regularly checked in. I had my first Michelada, which was a beer based savory cocktail, very nice.

The water was beautiful and I walked over 40 feet out and water was only chest high. We saw some local fish while wading the in the ocean. The sand was perfect for building sandcastles with the children. We met a few folks on the beach that is staying at the hotel and they loved it. Maybe next time we will book a stay as well when we are not on a cruise.

We had a late lunch and they set up a table for us over looking the beach, the portions were huge and we had a great meal. Next time we will try some of the local favorites.

When its time to leave they walked us to the front and called a cab to take us back to the pier. We had a wonder time. The service and facilities were top notch.
