A quiet bay with beautiful views. The water is not great for swimming or snorkeling. It is very shallow. The seas grass was abundant when we were there. We did see turtles and some reef fish. This is a quiet and restful alternative to the luxury beach front giant hotels in Cancun.

We stayed in a condo on Half Moon Bay and really enjoyed ourselves. You definitely need swim shoes because of the rocky bottom and sea urchins. My teen boys snorkeled almost everyday. There is definitely a huge seaweed issue in the Yucatan right now but the bay was as badly effected as other areas...don't get me wrong...there is still seaweed,... More

The beach itself is nice but you have to be respectful of the turtle nests, and there was a build up of algae on the beach, however, it is a great place to swim out and watch turtles as well as relax on the white sand. It is a little too commercialised, however it makes a nice afternoon rest.

Problem with seaweed, however there were places you could get in without too much seaweed. Beuna Vida great place to hang out and small pool for kids.

Shallow water, rocky bottom, use swimming footwear to protect your feet. Spotted manta ray and turtles a few times

Went snorkeling on Half Moon Bay yesterday, and it was glorious! Crystal clear water, lots of marine life, and a nice sandy beach. There are nice restaurants there too for lunch.

Beautiful area. Turtles galore. Actually saw huge turtles come in to lay their eggs at about 9 pm. It was a great experience for my granddaughter (9 yrs).

Just got to go do it.....very easy to hire snorkelling equipment. $15 dollars for full gear. Really no need for a guide as you can spend as much time as you need on your own. Turtles are easy to find ( just head to where the people are). Fantastic place. Don't miss it.

Maybe we just had bad luck, but it was a pain in the butt to get there on foot from Akumal Beach Resort (we did not stick to the street like we should have) and once we got there it was very shallow water and rocks. We only spent about 15 minutes snorkelling because I kept crashing into reef and... More
