We really loved half moon bay. Quiet and everything you think a hidden beach destination should be when you see it on a billboard. Good snorkeling, close food, a beautiful beach out the front door and gorgeous sunrises make for a great destination.

I'm almost reluctant to write a review of Half Moon Bay because it's such a special, quiet, beautiful place. It doesn't draw all the crowds and tour buses that Akumal Bay does, and you don't have all the snorkel tour guides hustling for clients. It's a much more peaceful beach experience than the main bay, in my opinion. It's also... More

So beautiful! A true taste of Mexico - beach, sun, coral, turtles, maybe a rain shower or two complete with rainbows - all of it's perfect! Please respect the environment and enjoy!

Most of the rental Condos are on Half Moon Bay and access to the water can be a little rocky but you have none of the guides trying to hustle you to pay for something is free. This is just you and the turtles. No suntan lotion ,no sprays and keep your distance and enjoy these magnificent creatures. The bay... More

This is the fourth visit we have made to Half Moon Bay, and I swear the turtles have all grown three-fold since our first visit! We saw no less than 30 turtles, and most of them looked the size of VW Beetles!

We stayed in a condo on the bay and snorkeled right in front of our condo. We saw baby turtles hatching here also.

We stayed on HMB for a week and it was fantastic. It was very quiet and low key compared to other bay's we visited in the area. Great for walking out of your condo and snorkeling; tons of coral, sea critters, and beautiful fish. I can't forget the best part the turtles! We got to see turtles hatching and huge... More

The beach area is great. A little rocky so you may want to wear water shoes.Very clear water. Lots of coral and shells on the beach. The snorkeling is great as there is a reef not far out from the left side, where the waves break. You will see a lot of fish.

Visiting here was a treat. It is a calm harbor with little to no waves and it a mecca for snorkeling the incredibly clear water. It doesn't take long until a huge sea turtle comes swimming by. There are many and you marvel at the grace of how they swim around, feed on the bottom and come up for air.... More

We returned to Akumal & Half Moon Bay for our third summer, staying in Casa Luna (2nd time) on the road between Half Moon Bay & Akumal. The spacious villa has a multi-million dollar view of the ocean and is quiet, private, comfortable, and has spectacular landscaping and grounds. The villa has a pool, books, games, outdoor shower, hammocks, and... More
