Hekab Be Biblioteca is a community library that operates solely on donations. We receive no government funding and do not charge for our services. In addition to a fully functioning library system, we have an afterschool program for local children ages 3-12 that provides activities/classes in English, music, art, yoga, environmental education, sports, and more!

The library along the entry road to Akumal Bay gives visitors a better understanding of the economic hardships many of the children living in Mexico encounter on a daily basis. My family routinely visit and make both monetary donations as well as books, stuffed animals and small children toys to help reward the children who attend the library in hopes... More

Beautiful place for local children and amazing staff. We dropped off a bag of donations for their program and stayed to read with the children and do some coloring. Children are usually there from 3-5 during the week.

We stopped by the library to donate items and participate in some of the activities. Everyone had a good time and my children are asking when they can go "back to school".

Evidently the kids come after school and have activities directed by the staff. Very welcoming to visitors.

The library is a great example of a community working together for the local kids. Many visitors over the years have contributed to making this library an asset to the children. Summer programs, classes, and a place children can go, learn, and have fun makes this a place for visitors who want to give back, and opportunity to do so.

Support the local literacy efforts. It's a sweet little place across from the Dive Shop (square bldg, not round one directly on the beach).

We love being contributors to this program. It is devoted to the local children, providing them with educational experiences, and helping them have a successful future. Donations are very welcome, especially school supplies, clothing, and shoes.

What a gem this library is! We took a backpack full of goodies and made a donation. Then we were given a short tour of the library. From the colorful murals to the kindness of the workers, it's clear that this lovely library is doing great things for the kids in the local community.

We wanted to donate some stuff to a local charity and found this library that is close to our hotel (Grand Palladium). We contacted the staff there via Facebook before we left to get a list of items that they needed. Per their suggestion, we took the Collectivo (their local transportation, white mini vans that runs up and down the... More
