This should have been a wonderful tour-all the ingredients were there. A trip through Sian Ka’an to see the wonderful wildlife in the UNESCO biosphere. The trip to the start point took a long time and hurtling through the mangroves on a small speedboat isn’t...More

Honestly if you're nervous in water this excursion would not be a good fit for you. You cannot stand and the water can be choppy.

Akumal Dive Shop Question (1 Replies)
G'day, Just wondering if anyone has any personal insight or experience into which one of the following dive shops we should use in Akumal to do a little diving one day. The 4 of us (36-44) are all newbies to diving so I guess we'd fall into that "Resort Course" group of people. I've been through Akumal before and seen a couple of the dive shops, but havn't participated before. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Found some info doing a "dive lessons" search, but would like something a...More

My husband uses Akumal Dive Center and likes it. Of all of them, it has the best location. Akumal Dive Shop is also nearby and gets good reviews. Of all that you mentioned, I think these two are the ones most often used. Check out Locogringo.com for better info on Akumal. Are you staying in Akumal? We've been there 3 times now and going back next month. Great place! Summer

Fishing Surprise for Husband (15 Replies)
Hi again~ This forum has been much help in other areas, so hopefully someone will have some tips here- for now I am truly lost!! My husband loves to fish & we are from Seattle so he has unique charter opps here w/ guides he knows personally-so cheap.(lucky) Here's my dilemna: 1.)I'd love to surprise him w/ a 1/2 day fishing guide during our Mid-April Vieques trip. But I cannot swing the $300.00 for a charter (especially since I don't really want to have to go-rather get a massage) ...More

I can't speak for Vieques, but $300 is pretty much par for the course for guided fishing out of a boat. That's a lot cheaper than Florida or the Bahamas. You may want to contact the two guides on the island and see if either of them is willing to guide a wading trip. In some areas I've fished, a shore based guided trip for a few areas at dawn or dusk is pretty reasonable. If you find one, though, let me know. I'm looking for the same thing! :)

Whale Shark Companies (3 Replies)
Now in Pdc. Walking around and talking to people I can find whale shark tours from 130 to 190$ Someone at the hotel told me there are a few actual companies that do the actual trip and most of the tour people all use the same companies (boats etc). I read a really bad review a few days ago on the forum somewhere about one company and everyone getting sick and the food being low budget. My question is if anyone knows what group Sollatino uses or which group Blue Caribe dive uses? One guy who...More
