Last week I bought a silver ring, that was displayed in a locked glass case at this shop. The clerk told me the ring represented a Manta Ray and featured an interesting black stone. When I asked what kind of stone it was, the sales clerk muttered something that I did not understand. So, shame of me for not clarifying... More

There is a sign before you go in that states no trying to negotiate cheaper prices as they are what is stated. The little shop is filled... More

This shop is the place to go for REAL Mexican crafts and products. They have an excellent selection of fine quality products from around Mexico. Oaxacan rugs and woven products, Alebrijes, the carved and painted animals from the Oaxaca state, baskets and folk art, Day of the Dead products and so many other things. It takes a good long time... Shopping was nice with friendly staff. The challenge (at least in October) was the limited number of stores to peruse (maybe 10 total) and so while my wife would have liked to spend more time looking, we had worked our way through all of them in an hour or so.

I've been to Galeria Lamanai several times and I have to say it is my favorite place to find good quality Mexican folk art that goes beyond a souvenir. Although most pieces are expensive I understand the value that the artist talent deserves. Every time I've visited Akumal this is a must stop for me.

There is so much to see in this shop. Every nook and cranny has another piece of art that will catch your eye. My only problem is that I could not afford everything I wanted! I picked up several things but I definitely plan to return when I win the lottery so I can get all the other items I... More

We took three generations for New Years, two Birthdays and a Wedding Anniversary; Interestingly we all bought gifts for the celebrations at the Galeria Lamanai. We've been going to Akumal for 20+ years and we have been to the Galaria every trip! We have accumulated a lot of wonderful quality folk art pieces. I have some of my favorite jewelry... More

The art in this store ranges from a few dollars to thousands, and all still underpriced by US standards. This is where you go to bring back something really beautiful for your home, as well as really nice trinkets for others. No junk!

As a Canadian tourist and artist, I love to collect 3 dimension artwork from other countries. The Lamanai Gallery was loaded with beautiful local artist's work, quality work, unique, funny and easy to take home. I purchased a beautiful wooden heart and a wood mask and we love our treasures. The service was excellent, knowledgeable, warm, not pushy. Will go... More
