Our trip to Punta de Mita, staying at Mita Surf House, was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had. The lodging is so comfortable and had everything we needed, including a swimming pool for a dip in the heat of the day. My friend and I were working remotely part of our stay, and had excellent WiFi access. Kate and Luis are fantastic hosts. I had two surfing lessons with Luis and he was an excellent instructor, plus nice to hang out with while we waited for waves! He really knows the area, what's under the water, what to watch out for, etc. which was key as it is a rocky shoreline in spots. Punta de Mita is a lovely, quiet town, about an hour drive from Puerto Vallarta. There are other surf spots nearby. Check out the Sunday market in La Cruz for some beautiful crafts and delicious food.

This was my third stay at Mita Surf House, and this time I stayed in the new spot across the street - the studio, swimming pool, palapa! Simple elegance. It had everything I needed. Kate and Luis are incomparable hosts with millions of suggestions and helpful tips for making the most of a mellow little village paradise. Luis provided surf coaching and helped coordinate boat trips for optimal conditions (and whale watching). Amazing.

The Mita Surf House is PERFECT in every possible way; a clean, comfortable beautifully designed spot where you can relax all day and also be in easy walking distance to the beach and spots to eat if you want to go out. With all the kitchen you need you can visit for a week or easily stay a month (I worked remotely here for the better part of a month). Part of what makes it so great is that Kate & Luis are fantastic hosts - kind, communicative and available for advice, directions or support. Go there to work, play, swim, surf, retreat and renew!!!

I found Mita Surf House online and was so lucky to find the perfect fit for my daughter and I. She’s 10 and learning to surf. As a mom traveling alone with my child, there were so many unknowns of how I was going to make all the logistics happen- boards, lessons, rides to different breaks, extra eyes and help in the water. After our first day with Luis as her instructor, I knew I wasn’t going to look anywhere else. He took such care and consideration with her. I felt she was completely safe, yet still being challenged and progressing everyday. By the end of the trip, she was dropping in going right and left. Her wave count was way above mine. I can’t thank Luis enough for being THE BEST surf instructor and guide. It made our trip an over the top success that far exceeded my expectations of how it was going to go. We made memories that will last forever, and shared our mutual love for surfing. It was priceless. I’ve traveled a bit as a surfer but this area is the very best place I’ve seen for kids to learn, but still have waves for adults. I would recommend both Luis and the area for families with kids or anyone just wanting to have an experienced surf guide who’s going to help them advance their skills. He also hooked us up with the best private boat to go to Murietas and whale watching. It was magical.

Thanks for another great surf adventure! We first met Luis last March for our family's first surf experience. Luis and crew were fantastic. We returned this December with another family and had another great experience. Very friendly and professional. Highly recommend.
