We rented two of these carts for 3 days while in Ajijic. They luckily were available right when we wanted them (we did not reserve them ahead of time and just got lucky). Lake chapala golf carts picked us up and brought us right to their location so we could drive the carts back to where we were staying. We had a garage where we were staying and we were able to keep them the full three days. These carts are great for exploring the city. Easy to drive and easy to park. We had our large extended family with us and we filled this carts up with people. We had a blast! We would highly recommend renting these golf carts if you find yourself in the Chapala Area.

these should only be used in the lower village and follow one way street signs. Going the wrong way on congested streets can be dangerous and costly as police do fine offenders.

My name is Travis, and I'm the owner of Lake Chapala Golf Carts. I started this small business over 2 years ago. I have never responded to a Trip Advisor review before, but have read every, single one of them. I greatly appreciate the enthusiastic reviews from all of our customers! Thank you! But the "review" from harryb370 demands that I respond, as it unfortunately contains inaccuracies. I make it very clear on the website (lakechapalagolfcarts.com) that it is not legal - or safe - to drive a golf cart on the carretera (highway through town). I explain this to every single renter. BUT it is perfectly legal to cross the carretera and use the carts in locations in upper Ajijic and beyond.
The golf carts are NOT limited to the "lower village" as he suggests. (I'm located in upper Ajijic myself, and so are the renters who posted "Simply the Best" review a couple of days later.) The carts have license plates and are insured. They are "street legal", but they are not "highway legal". Yes, they also need to be driven in the correct direction on one-way streets in town, just like a car, Otherwise you might be subject to an infraction (which I would be HAPPY to pay on your behalf. Really!) I ALWAYS encourage all golf cart renters to drive legally and safely, and I give every renter a map, explain the above rules, and clearly indicate which of the streets crossing the carretera have a stoplight etc.,, which makes crossing the in-town highway ("carretera") much safer for everyone.
Lastly, I'm not sure why harryb370 found it necessary to write a review on Trip Advisor about LCGC, since to my knowledge, he's never rented a golf cart from us. But I suspect I know who harryb370 is, and I appreciate the excellent five star rating, Harry! Cheers, have a great day, and I hope that clears up any confusion on your part.

Renting a golf cart to see more of Ajijic sounded like a great idea. We had a great time and got to see a lot more of this quaint little village and beyond than we did on foot. Well, we did have a great time exploring Ajijic.
The pleasant surprise was the excellent service by the owner Travis. He was very professional during the entire transaction and experience. I would recommend this rental to everyone that is looking to explore

We're SO glad we found LCGC rentals!!!! Renting the cart was a life saver! Travis delivered the cart to us when and as promised and kept in touch with us during our stay. We DID walk a lot as well but used the cart to do much more "exploring" than we could ever have done on foot! Thanks for your help and kindness Travis and we look forward to doing business with you again in the near future!

A friend and I visited Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, last week. We are both 61 years old. The only paved road is the main highway, or carretera. All the other streets are paved with large, irregular cobblestones, and the narrow sidewalks have many irregularities. We walked quite a bit for the first few days, but I was nervous about turning an ankle or tripping, and it slowed us down. The walking tired us out, too, especially during the warmer afternoons.
On our last two days in town, we rented carts from Lake Chapala Golf Carts, and we wished we had done so from the beginning. We were able to cover much more territory and explore the area more thoroughly. The rates are reasonable and well worth it. The business owner rents the carts from his gated home which was only a couple of blocks from our B&B, Adobe Walls. It did take us a few minutes to locate the place, because the house numbering on the street is a bit inconsistent. He was flexible in allowing us to return the cart after dinner. The main restriction is that you may not use the carts on the highway, but you may cross it to explore upper Ajijic. If/when we return to the town, we will definitely rent a cart again.

We needed an easy, care-free, transportation option since my partner's father has health issues with his feet and has problems walking. The 4-seat golf cart was perfect for their visit and we spent 3 weeks seeing more of the Lake Chapala region than if we were on foot. On top of that, it's great fun roaming around town in a cart and we never had problems finding a parking spot. Travis was amazing - providing us maps of the area and delivery of the cart. Definitely recommend Travis' golf carts for those who don't want to deal with the stress of renting or driving a car in Mexico.

We had such a great experience renting a golf cart from Travis! We had some logistical issues which prevented us from keeping the cart overnight, and although we agreed to pick it up, most mornings Travis beat us to the punch and delivered to our door. The golf cart itself lets you cover more ground than walking and see more sights then you would in a car. Easy to scoot all over the charming village of Ajijic! I highly recommend.

Our feet were sore after 2 days of hoofing it and we were very glad to tootle around in the golf cart. Travis couldn't have been any more helpful or wonderful. He delivered our wheels, gave us a great map and because we were scouting Ajijic as a place to retire, gave us all kinds of information about what it's like to live here. We covered so much more ground in the cart than we could have in the cart. It was a great pleasure and a wonderful experience - we highly recommend it!

I had the pleasure of staying in Ajijic Mexico for the month of September 2014. I also had the pleasure of meeting Travis Ashby owner of Lake Chapala Golf Carts. I rented one of his golf carts for the duration of my stay and it was one of the best things I did while in Ajijic. There are just so many good thing to say about Travis and his carts. First let me say that Travis himself is a charming and friendly gentleman who is happily willing to do anything he can to make your stay an enjoyable adventure. Not only does he have great carts but he is also well informed about Ajijic and the surrounding areas. Now on to the carts.....they are the best way to navigate the cobblestoned streets of Ajijic. They are especially wonderful for the physically challenged but they are equally as wonderful for those, both young and old, who want a cost efficient, open aired and comfortable way of getting around this wonderful little village. They are so compact that you can park them just about anywhere ( with some exceptions of course) These carts attract attention. Everyone waves and says Hola when they see you coming in a Lake Chapala Golf Cart. Its a great way to make new friends.
Thank you Travis. Hasta Luego amigo.

Their web page still has multiple phone numbers. I tried calling all of them and could not get through. I sent an email through the website and got a message a few days later from the owner stating that they had temporarily suspended operations due to illness but hoped to resume in the future. I am sorry to hear that but the web page should be updated to advise that they are currently not in business.

Hola, My name is Denny. I will be coming and staying at Hotel Perico right outside of Ajijic in Feb. 4th thru 25th 2018. I was wondering if you could give me the prices for the use of the carts, daily or whatever. Although I like to walk, I could see more with a golf cart.

Can we use your golf cart to access the water skiing club?
Written October 11, 2017
We will be coming to Ajijic in March of 2017.
Would like to be able to rent a golf cart while we are there.
What is the daily rate?
Look forward to hearing from you.

We rented two golf carts the first part of May a day before he was leaving on a big trip. I believe it was out of the country possibly? Maybe he has not returned. A really nice guy but I don't think he needs this business to live. He was from the US I believe so somehow just kind of adopted Chapala as his home.
