The atmosphere with people milling about, food vendors sending out aromas that invite you to partake and restaurants close enough to imbibe with a margarita...or two! This is a fabulous place to meet the locals, find your friends, enjoy families celebrating events. Local vendors are always present for some food, local art and great picture taking.

This is a leisurely walk to the malecon. You are surrounded by Mexican natives, local ex-pats and tourists enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. There are families, artists, lovers, and vendors out in the wonderful climate relaxing and just being happy. I recommend this.

We didn't expect it to be that nice. It had games for children, little market with interesting things on sale, the walkway was very clean and well maintained.

When one visits Ajijic, there are a handful of must-dos. Walking the Malecon and taking in the lake, the surroundings, the parks and the beached are one of them. At this time of year (ie, Winter), walk during the warm afternoon for a most enjoyable experience.

There isn't anything healthier that a regular morning walk along the Ajijic Malecon. From one end to the other must be close to half a kilometer so both way and you done a full kilometer. Plus you can also stop and work out on their exercise equipment conveniently located about 250 meters west from the pier.

Wonderful way to start or end your day watching the sun come up or watching the sun go down. Walk end to end, about 10-15 minutes each way. It's paved so it is unlikely that you will trip. Wear a sweater or windbreaker as it can be nippy and much cooler than two blocks from the water.

The Malecon is a great place to walk, to exercise, to join in the lakeside zumba class or to just sit on a bench and enjoy the lake and mountain views while listening to Spanish music in the background. It is very clean and pleasing to look at with all the greenery. Enjoyed the little market there also.

It may only be .9 miles down and back but it's a great place to go for a run/walk. Went during the AM, caught the sunrise - lots of action, people walking, jogging. During the PM, occasional music, skate park and futbol. Cleaning looked about daily - different sections.
