The silver collection at this museum is amazing. It said on one of the posters that it was the largest collection held by one individual. The rest of the museum was pretty standard stuff with a few highlights. There is a small collection of items from the Weyburn mental hospital including a large mural from the hospital painted by one of the patients back in the 50's. Another highlight is a six legged cow. The cost was 5 dollars to enter for an adult.

It's great that they have amassed quite a large collection of objects and artifacts relating to Weyburn, and are keeping them safe. And they do have some fascinating things, like a purse made out of an armadillo, a safe from the downtown bank that looks like it could withstand a nuclear blast, and artwork from the patients of the long-since decommissioned mental hospital. But it's not woven into any sort of a story, and while interesting, the objects generate more questions than anything. It's still worth a visit, especially if you're interested in historical silverware, they DO have a lot of it. It looks like they rely on their docents to tell the story of the town through the artifacts, but some of us don't have that much time. And interestingly, but not unexpectedly, we didn't see anything relating to the name of the museum, the Soo Line Railway. Weyburn is a beautiful town, full of great history and amazing stories. Sadly, this place doesn't do it justice.

What a fabulous museum this is, Weyburn! We enjoyed our visit. Mathew is a pleasant & knowledgeable summer attendant. The extent of the artifact collection is awesome.... not to mention the silver display. Keep doing what you’re doing.

A surprisingly large museum in such a small city with an amazing, unique twist: The massive Wilson Silver Collection. Along with that is the history of the Souris Valley Mental Hospital. Learning about both of these was well worth the visit along with many other, smaller displays of antiques and Weyburn's own history.

The museum has many of the items of a usual museum with local artifacts and recreated rooms but the most amazing part of it is the Wilson Silver Collection. A bachelor farmer collected and bought silver around the world and left a huge collection (possibly the largest private collection in North America) to the museum after his passing. It is well worth the visit even if silver is not your thing.
