Gorgeous church and so many healings and crutches, canes & radiation face masks mounted on the pillars.
I was disappointed that we didn't have longer to enjoy this beautiful church. It was amazing and I was looking forward to visiting as my mother & father had visited prior to my youngest sister being born. But discovered that the church they visited had been burned by arson in mid 1970s. There are so many healings from visits here and many crutches, etc. fixed to the pillars at the entrance. So moving to see them all. The interior design was exquisite and the chapel downstairs was lovely. We had our tour guide telling us many details of different areas. The gift shop was further away and a few of the people that had mobility issues did not get opportunity to shop. It was a little further out from the city than I thought. But well worth the trip.

Don't miss the church underneath the Basilica!
Unique ceiling filled with phrases invoking St. Anne. Stairs near the altar lead down to another church with beautiful blue ceilings. Gift shop is located in its own building, just outside the Basilica.

    A day at the Basilica
The church is beautiful and is surrounded by historical buildings. There is also a surrounding area with the stages of the cross. The church includes the forearm of St. Anne as a relic which could be a little disturbing for some visitors, however the basilica is beautifully decorated. The floor is made up of intricate mosaics. Well worth a visit.

    Astonishing Basilica
Astonishing basilica, all in magnificent condition. Amazing that such a huge building for worship is in such a small town. Particularly impressed by the stained glass windows throughout. Works going on outside but still open to visitors. SILENCE signs everywhere, broken only by official guides in their red jackets shouting into their walkie-talkies. Shh!

    Great experience
Absolutely amazing! Beautiful architecture and grounds. There is a Father on site to bless religious purchases. I was fortunate to be there for mass. It brought back childhood memories of my Catholic upbringing. And just maybe, St Anne will answer a prayer or two.

    Wonderful Basilica Worth a Visit
We were pleasantly surprised by our visit here. First of all, the church is so huge that you could see if from almost two miles away when approaching from the south. The architecture is outstanding and the inside is amazingly beautiful. It is not far from Quebec so combining a visit to the basilica together with a stop at Montmorency Falls makes for a nice half-venture adventure.

    Stunning
The basilica was a short drive in our car rental from Quebec and well worth visiting this stunning basilica. We parked on the side street and were a little concerned seeing scaffoling on the front stairs and only construction workers working on the main entrance. However, it was open with groups of school kids already inside. The embossed metal doors were quite heavy to push open but moved smoothly. The entry foyer was more detailed than I expected and included two small altars. This preview was just a precursor to what lay inside the main basilica. The inside of the basilica left us speechless. We could feel the immensity of the basilica and importance. Almost every inch was decorated and it looked like no effort was spared. I don’t recall seeing so much use of mosaics not only on the floor but even in the ceilings and around every window. Every group of students eventually gathered around the status of St. Anne. It was quite magnificent. The Imaculate Conception Chapel downstairs was simpler and the mosaics were a bit more modern in design. We were also able to walk around behind the main altar and look at all the individual chapels. When we finished the staff closed the path so we felt fortunate to have seen them that day. Outside were the monastery, blessings office, bathrooms and gift shop. In addition on the other side of the road we walked though the larger than life statues forming the Way of the Cross which wound its way up the side of the hill.

This wonderful church is so special, I left my heart there. A wonderful Hail Mary and Mass left me feeling loved and gentle. Sitting in the garden afterwards the Priest came to speak with me, and I just loved how he came out to meet the congregation walking the gardens.

The lady in the information center is an angel on earth. She was so loving and helpful I wanted to stay forever.

The great problem with visiting this church is that the bus leaves Quebec city at 9:45am and the return bus is only at 6pm. I opted therefore to take a taxi to the church, thinking I'd pay the hefty $70 fee, to not have to spend all day there. Unfortunately, when we called for a taxi one was only available at 2pm.

the lady in the information centre handled the entire taxi booking and then made the recommendation of the chicken pie at the church canteen. She said it's made by one of the monks who is a cook.

DON'T leave until you've eaten the chicken pie! It was the perfect pastry and so delicious. I asked and got the recipe from the monk, who painstakingly wrote it all down for me.

Probably best to hire a car to get there so you're not trapped for a day or waiting for a cab. It was another $70 dollars back to Quebec and not $50 as the guide books tell you.

Also be sure to visit the immaculate conception chapel and the pieta replica. A lovely few hours spent.

An easy stop off Rt. 138 with adequate parking. A large basilica is always imposing even when sandwiched into a European urban environment. The view from the west is a bit marred by the cyclorama though. As a pilgrimage site of high volume in North America there are many amenities: information, souvenirs and toilets, large and clean. The basilica has a soft almost feminine feel to it by the color scheme and artistry. Votives were blazing. In the early afternoon on a national holiday, there many visitors. The basilica has the requisite collection of crutches.

Amazing visit to St. Anne’s Basilica. This beautiful church is about a half hour east of Quebec City and would make a great stop along with Mortmorency Falls if venturing out of the city. The basilica was beautiful and free to enter. We picked up a couple items at the gift shop and we even had the chance to get on of them blessed. A breathtaking church that was easily one of the best I have visited including my travels in Europe. Thankful I made the trip here to visit on our way home.

The architecture is grant, but for me it's always about the art, the stained glass, the paintings, the sculpture, the mosaics. Make sure you take in the smaller chapels and scala across the street, for the history and the unusual sculptures. These are holy places to be respectful. If you have opinions share them once away from the property.
One most interesting sight is the sanctuary UNDER the sanctuary at the Basilica... this is like a second-class worship centre, but still ornate and powerful. The art here is overwhelming, even the ceilings, although they much lower than in the grand cathedral above. Look for the multiple colorful mosaics on the pillars, created by Italian-Canadian artist Giovanni Gerometta - check out his work and unique home at Galarie d'Art Mont Saint Anne.

This is one of the must-do landmarks when visiting Quebec City. The cathedral itself has some gorgeous architecture, but the surroundings too are blazing in beautiful fall colours! The interior of the cathedral was also a sight to behold!

There is a gift shop behind the church as well and they perform blessings to the purchased items in both English and French.

Also don't forget to explore the lower floor of the basilica!

Breathtaking Basilica of St Anne de Beaupre!! The paintings on the ceilings and tile work throughout the church are absolutely marvelous! We attended Mass, in French, and toured the church. There is a substantial relic of St Anne in an alcove and special prayer for the saints’ intercession. The visit was well worth the time!!
