Nice to walk around the house and see how things used to be on PEI. There are lots of trails to take a walk on on the grounds. Also there is a short film if you don't know the story about Anne and her creator Lucy Maude Montgomery.

We toured Green Gables on our own during a recent trip to PEI. The home, grounds and park are very well maintained. The staff are helpful and friendly. It was mid October (almost off season) and the leaves were just turning beautiful colors. The staff had plenty of time to share the history of the farm and LM Montgomery's life.... More

I have not read any of tghe Anne of Green Gables books and so it is hard to review. However, as I watched the reactions of others who apparently read the books, it clearly was very good for them. The barn, ground, presented information and the house were very nice. Based upon my reaction: go if you know the author... More

I knew nothing about the series until my good friend Kristen took me there. Obviously, it has been an inspiration to many and the visit to the locale on PEI was very fulfilling. All the parts of the novel are there, including the lighted candle in the second story of the house, the Haunted Wood Trail, etc. The site sits... More

Lucy Maud Montgomery's birthplace is not far from the Canada Historic Site Green Gables. Her story comes alive for all those who have read the books and seen the television series of Ann as a child and when a young student at college and later when she marries Gilbert. You feel as if you know her very well. There are... More

Having never read any of the books about Anne of Green Gables I wasn't particularly excited about this visit and it turned out that the house was the inspiration for the author's house in the books rather than anywhere where the author had actually lived. However, it is a pretty place, with lovely gardens and an exhibition of Victorian furniture... More

If you are a fan of Anne of Green Gables, this place is for you. However, keep your expectations low since this is just the house that INSPIRED the author, not the house in the movies. The movies were shot in the Toronto area and at some of the Heritage Villages. Nevertheless, if you let your imagination go, you'll thoroughly... More

Our Caravan Tour guide showed us the first of the three movies on the bus ride to the site. And, after being there we bought the book so we would compare it with the movie. The place is very well maintained and it really bought everything in the movie back to live. It was GREAT!!

Just completed all of the Anne books this past summer, so was pleased to visit after about 50 years. Enjoyed the home, grounds, Lovers Lane, Haunted Woods and the Rspberry cordial.

This was a shore excursion to Cavendish, the "home" of Anne of Green Gables. Travelled a fair distance over the island listening to interesting commentary and fun facts from the tour guide. ( There are 57 different shades of green on PEI. The government paid 3 Uni students to count all the variations over a summer a couple of years... More
