We have been to this theatre many times and its always delightful. The venue is charming and although they don't have a live orchestra the music is so good you forget that its electronic. We are always amazed at how the actors provide a wonderful musical under the circumstances.

Lovely theatre right in downtown Port Hope. Parking is a little tricky, but there is parking near their municipal offices further south. Great atmospheric theatre with good amenities such as lounge area for snacks and clean washroom facilities. We have seen two productions so far - a Patsy Cline tribute and a comedy, Stag and Doe. We enjoyed the comedy more (stronger actors), but definitely an enjoyable outing both times!

The Capitol Theatre is a gem of a theatre. Have been attending productions of the summer season for many years, and have never been disappointed. The actors are consummate professionals. The volunteers work tirelessly and never fail to be courteous and friendly. The theatre is so pretty and very comfortable. Refreshments are available for purchase. Popcorn and a drink, anyone? Book your tickets now, you will be hooked!

We saw Simply Queen, a couple of months after seeing The Million Dollar Quartet. Not a bad seat in the house! Acoustics are good. Prices are reasonable. Share in the 50-50 to support this local theatre.

We come every year for the Panto. The theatre is gorgeous and old in style. Absolutely beautiful. The volunteers who help put have always been polite, friendly and helpful anytime we go.

Since we found this theatre we have kept comming back to catch at least two different performance yearly. We have attended the past 2 production of their Panto productions, Robin Hood and King Arthur. This time we came to see Cinderella the Naughty and we learned that the previous Art Director had resigned. This production barring one scene in the second act we found that teenagers would have been quite comfortable watching this performance. More sweet than naughty compared to the past two years. The actors all had
tremendous voices and once again this theatre is worth the visit. Just wished the previous Artistic Directors was still here as we have seen some excellent shows, Singing in the Rain (outstanding) Fiddler on the Roof and Steel Magnolias to mention just a few.

We went as a work group and saw the naughty king Arthur play and we had a blast. The theatre itself is quaint and cute and full of character. The play was also VERY funny! The concession stand was even selling adult beverages and that was a plus. Worth a visit.

We were there to see Million Dollar Quartet. The show was not what we were expecting but a pleasant surprise. More of a story than a concert but packed full of interesting bits of information.
The seats in theatre are pretty comfortable, interesting little bar. Would be nice if there were more snack options.

Hey. Just wondering if it's a good time to visit Port Hope?

There really isn't a bad time to visit. It's a great place to browse the downtown in the summer but it is also decorated for the Christmas season if you like winter outings. There are also a number of restaurants and cafes for a snack or just a cup of coffee.

No, afraid not. It was held over but the tickets were gone almost as soon as they went up for sale.

Wondering if we sit front row centre at this theatre is it hard on the neck looking up at show if stage is high? Also will have my 10year old with me and want her to see everything good, thought front show better than her having to look through people in front of us if choose seats farther back. Love to hear from someone, thanks!

I found that sitting in row 7-10 is an excellent positions to see everything. The stage is a little high but if you can get tickets in those rows you get a much better view. Actually the theatre is not that big so anywhere at centre stage are very good seats.

We go to the Capitol Theatre every Christmas as a treat for a 4 grandsons and always book a whole row of 8 on the left or right side about 4 rows back. We are intending to go to see The Dining Room next week, and my question is..... there are seats available on the front row centre, will I have to "crane" my neck to see the stage? Just strange that the whole of the front row centre is available. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Peronally I dont think there is a bad seat in this theatre but of course you will have to look up a little more if front and center......I like to be back somewhat
