We absolutely love this bike trail and try to do it at least 2x a year. The Friendship trail rides from Fort Erie to Port Colborne. This trail is part of the Golden Horseshoe.

This trail is wide and smooth. It great to ride along your biking companion. In some parts you go thru old beach cottages and then thru woods and then thru farmers fields. It is so relaxing to ride this and have what feels like the world to yourself. It is peaceful and so quiet in some parts.

In Port Colborne you will then pass over the Welland Canal and seem so large lake freighters pass by. Stop along at the shops and then ride the trail to the end and stop at Sugar Loaf Marina and park. It so relaxing.

I can not say enough good things about this trail. It's just amazing and a true treasure to have!

My wife & I enjoy going 4 walks. Walking on the Friendship Trail has great scenery and most people you meet are very kind & polite. Technically my wife walks & I roll my self around in my wheelchair. The trail is very smooth, & is Completely Handicapped Accessible. It's Also Wheelchair Friendly.

Although we live about 350 km away, we have been coming to the Friendship Trail a few times each year during the last decade.
It is about 32 km from Port Colborne to the end of the trail just under the bridge to USA.
The Trail is flat and on both sides there is agriculture. There are excellent signs at each road crossing and benches to rest.
About 10 km from Fort Erie is the village of Ridgeway. Trail goes right through the town and it is worth exploring. There is a porta potty right on the trail in the centre of town!
There are a number of large garbage containers along the way. Unfortunately no source of drinking water. The trail begins/ends at parks in both towns and washrooms are available.
Highly recommend this trail as part of the 140 km Great Niagara Circle Tour.

Enjoyed this portion of the route from Fort Erie to Port Colborne. Flat ride, well marked, often protected by surrounding natural vegetation and constantly changing scenery. Highly recommend doing the Circle. Lots of places of interest on the way.

The trail meanders thru farmland and wooded areas between Fort Erie and Port Colborne. It offers a pleasant ride through residential communities and farmland. Queen's park offers a nice place for a picnic as you overlook the waterfront. Ridgeway offers pleasant coffee shops and "Nice Dreams" ice cream. Prot Colborne offers a view of the canal system and my favorite; the Minior Fisheries.

We did the entire circle. This part of the trail was well maintained, but it could use more facilities. We had been warned that there not a lot so it wasn't an issue for us.

We cycled this trail last week as part of our 3-day trip on The Niagara Peninsula Loop. Stayed overnight in Port Colborne before continuing up the Welland Canal trail. Trail is mostly flat, paved and well maintained. Well marked road crossings. Trail goes through (or very close to) some small towns with restaurants, etc.

A great trail for beginners or the more seasoned cyclists. Nature has been conserved and be prepared to see small garter snakes sunning on the trail, or frogs hopping around. Everyone using the trail seemed respectful and although it is long (24 km), it was very easy.

I run this trail a few times a year, from Ridgeway to Sherkston Shores Rd it's roughly 8k. The trail itself is shaded and quiet, a few road stops but rarely any cars. It's perfect for a run if you want peace and quiet on flat terrain. It's well maintained and not too busy, wide enough to accommodate a bit of traffic, but never crowded given the wide area covered. A few photo ops, but it's mainly an open trail behind some farms that allows you a comfortable and safe space to get outdoors.

I always enjoy my run here!

A wonderful trail to walk or bike. It's a great bike ride, pack a lunch hop on your bike and pedal on. The trail passes by farmers fields, quarries and quaint shopping areas. travel east or west for a wonderful relaxing day on this great paved past rail tract.
