This is a winery still in need of some quality wines. They try and they try to produce wines of mediocore quality (don't be fooled by all the "Awards"). They will eventually succeed but they may have to sacrifice somewhat on price in the short-run for a lonegr-run quality gain. Taste the wines, praise them if yoiu wish, but be careful--some do not travel well.

We attended a wedding reception in the large banquet facilities located right on the property of the winery. This place can accommodate a large party with plenty of room for seating and dancing. The catered food was fabulous and the owner came around to every table to greet all the guest. Very professional.

Happy Canada Day, we stopped by to pick up Sangria for Canada Day. It is a family favourite. Looking forward to sampling after our golf game.

Cheers.

On Sunday, June 16, my husband and I, along with his brother and sister-in-law attended a John McDermott concert at the Winery. We received an e:mail telling us that the doors opened at 6:00, meet and greet from 6:30-7:00 and a glass of wine. This for the low, low price of $60 and front row seats. OK, so the wine was mediocre and the chairs were uncomfortable but that would have been fine had it not been for the fact that John showed up at 7:55, proceeded to work the room, glad-handing everyone in the tent. The people in the back paid as little as $30 for their tickets and when I sent an e:mail stating my case to the ticket agent, I was referred to the Winery. Let us just say that the response I received surprised and angered me. I was told that I got a glass of wine, the seats were the ones I chose and the concert was first class. We had been told that John was a personal friend, so that last part didn't surprise me and I am not saying I didn't enjoy what there was of it but the rest left a bad taste. A 4 oz. plastic glass of mediocre wine doesn't make up for the $30 difference in the cost of the tickets. It wasn't a large venue so I would have enjoyed the concert just as easily from seats a bit further back. The owner was rude and unpleasant and I wouldn't recommend this venue to anyone.

I would like to mention that I did not actually visit Mastronardi Estate Winery, only dealt with them over the phone.

Unfortunately, my experience with Mastronardi Estate Winery was not a pleasant one. My girlfriend and I decided to buy a Groupon for a wine tasting Seminar valued at $80 for two people. The groupon voucher explains we must call Mastronardi and book our wine tasting at least 3 days in advance. It also says we can book our seminar on Thursday evenings or Weekends during business hours. The voucher expires on January 31, 2012. We were only able to go on Thursday evenings since we both worked on weekends. Well when we called, we were told that thursdays were no longer available. The Mastronardi Estate Winery employee then explained that she would accommodate us rather then give us a refund. She also said she would call us back. Two weeks went by, and we heard nothing. Finally, we decided to call back. Another Mastronardi employee answered and told us that thursdays had been cancelled, she did not have the authority to accommodate us, and she would contact her manager and get back to us. The next day came, we still heard nothing, feeling annoyed, we called back. The Mastronardi employee was very rude and told us we had to book our seminar on the weekend or not book it at all. We then spook to the owner and she began to tell us that thursdays had been cancelled due to lack of interest and didn't seem to care that we couldn't attend a seminar, she also said and I quote "What do you want me to do about it? I'm not doing anything that would make you happy" and then used profanity and hung up the phone.
In my opinion, when it comes to running a business. Customer service and satisfaction is of most importance. We paid for a Wine Tasting Seminar at Mastronardi Estate Winery which we did not get. Not only did Mastronardi Estate Winery fail to accommodate us, but when they couldn't accommodate us, they failed to give us any compensation. That being said I will never deal with Mastronardi Estate Winery and I would recommend avoiding them.

Hello Brian, I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier to your negative feed back regarding a Groupon offer that you purchased for a wine seminar at Mastronardi Estate Winery. Let me begin, we get many confused patrons who frequent Groupon offers that don't realize our dates are posted on our website in great detail to avoid exactly what you are describing. I'm certain, had you checked the website like every one else there would be no need for your confusion as it would be made very clear. I have no doubt if for some reason the schedule posted conflicted with your dates available you would have been told to call Groupon for a full refund. You did not purchase this offer from us - it was purchased through Groupon so therefore there was no compensation to be had. Also, I have a very difficult time believing that I would have spoken to you with profanity and hang up. That is NOT my nature or that of my staff. I hope you have been able to recoup your monies from Groupon.

This winery experience was a big disappointment to us. We had visited several other wineries in the Kingsville-Colchester area where both the wines were better and the staff nicer and more knowledeable. The staff did a poor job of explaining what differentiated their wines from other wineries and regions. They appeared to lack any formal training beyond having drank the wine before. The wines themselves were mediocre at best. Also the setting was disappointing compared to other local wineries. Try View Pointe or Sprucewood for the views and Pelee Island for the professionalism. I would not recommend this winery to anyone with taste.

My husband and I went stopped in at Mastronardi during a wine tour of the area. We went on a Friday just after 11am, so it was not busy at all. My husband and I were the only ones in the tasting room, which was quite lovely. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and assisted us with wine-tasting. She wasn't particularly engaging and we didn't receive much background on the wines and its making process. However, the wines themselves were quite easy to drink and moderately priced. We found their reds on the lighter side. In the end, we took home a baco noir and a cab-sauv.

My friend and I purchased the EPIC wine passport and did 3 winery tours on June 23. We went to Mastronardi Winery as one of our 3 chosen. The reception we were given by the staff in the tasting room was not warm and they seemed bored. We were not given a description of the wines we were tasting. We were given a menu of wines we could try and the two staff members stood there while we made our choices. When I asked the difference between the two Merlot wines , I was told one was bolder than the other and what their personal preference was. We were not told any thing about Mastronardi winery . Not the history , how they make the wines, the awards they were given , nothing. No tour of the winery was offered. We just went to the tasting room. We were just handed a menu and told what we could pick from and that we had to make a purchase if we wanted the free wine glass that was part of the EPIC passport. When I made my purchase and asked for my wine glass I was told that it did not come to the amount on the passport and my purchase came to $21 .After I pointed that out to the staff member I was given my free wine glass. Our passports were not stamped as they are supposed to be as part of the EPIC passport tour. The wine I chose was very good and I would purchase it again. The wines offered were very good and I would make another purchase. It is the staff that needs training on how to do a better presentation of the winery and the wines offered and to make the customers feel welcome. The reception at any business is the first impression given of a business and the reception we were given was not a positive one, which is a shame as the wines are very good.

Hello Joann, Thank you for your review on a recent visit to the winery. I'm sorry to read left with a less than perfect visit. We take all comments seriously and share this feed back with our retail staff to help them improve on any areas they may need more training on. We pride our selves in exceptional customer service and constantly work to ensure our customers leave with a great experience. We are the beginning of the season and have several new retail staff members who are still in training and learning about the programs we feature as a winery and a region collectively. I encourage you to revisit us again soon and give us an opportunity to redeem ourselves.

We were here for a Wedding, reason for the Trip. The ambiance was great. Even though there was rain threatening the whole service was in the Area they have for the dinner. There are tents like flaps open to let the Air flow through. Not sure of the Caterer but the food was excellent, service great.
Went back the next day and Purchased some great wine to bring home.
