This place is so worth the stop. The seafood market/fresh fish and chips & and don’t forget the market.
The fish and chips are outrageously good. And the are GF -gluten free. Most things from the fry shack (boat) are all GF too. What sets them apart is you get a full side of fish fillet and it’s of good size. You don’t even know it’s GF.
The Market- this place has it all. You get a melange of things here. Gifts and souvenirs, a fresh farmers market and grocery, a bakery, ice-cream, alcohol and small cafe. If planning on baked items, you got to get here early or you’ll see many blank shelves. Donuts are a must!

I only had time for a short visit but SO GLAD I stopped at this incredible "one stop shopping" place on route home from Moncton to Halifax environs. The liquor store was excellent, the grocery store was appreciated (loved my tasty large Pazazz apples), bathroom was very clean and ample parking. Did not take advantage of the Gift Shop, restaurant or ice cream booth but nice option seeing people able to eat outside on picnic tables. An oasis off the hwy.

We stopped for the sea food chowder. As with our previous visits it was excellent. Also choose the turkey sandwich, it too was very good. We purchase some of the baked goods for later. There were as good as homemade. Travelling from Newfoundland, so trips are not very frequent, but worth the stop on each trip off the rock.

Used to be amazing, the best Fish & Chips. Last evening we waited an hour and 20 minutes while overhearing the completely rude staff give excuses to patiently waiting customers. We waited until finally our food coaster rang, what we waited for was Mediocre at best. Our fries weren't even remotely warm. You'd think after making customers wait over an hour the food would at the very least be hot. I'm sure if you asked any of the many extremely patient customers that were there last evening, none of them left happy! Extremely disappointing to say the least...

Zero attention to public health. We walked in and directional flow was poorly indicated and if there was, noone was following it. The food line was belly to bum, with about one or two feet between patrons. Three people in the mensroom, so I didn't bother with that. We left virtually immediately, on the way out there was an elderly group of six patron laughing it up, shoulder to shoulder, at one of the dining tables.
There was zero effort by the many staff to enforce any type of social distancing.
Appalling lack of care by ownership.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

It's a tourist trap! Prices are highly inflated especially the gift shop garden center. Baked goods and some veggies are fresh but some veggies are again overpriced especially since it is local. Best corm I've eaten all ummer though.

Visiting Masstown Market used to be treat. It was worth the drive. The Market I visited yesterday was thoroughly disappointing. Prices on produce were very high, quality was mediocre. Selection was extremely limited. And no, business was not down because of COVID-19. The place was packed.
Went to get ice cream and was told that we all had to “walk around the outside of the building and come in the back door” if we wanted ice cream. So, stand in the hot sun with no shade in a 25 minute line-up with my elderly mother & granddaughter. No thanks.
For as many years it was a treat to stop there, I will not be stopping again.

We’ve visited the market many times over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. On occasion we will eat at the cafeteria and have always found the food to be basic fare but always of good quality. I usually order the fish chowder which was consistently tasty but not this time. It was thin and tasteless. My wife ordered the seafood casserole and it tasted “off’. She couldn’t finish eating it. And my daughter ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was well, barely grilled. I’m hoping that they were just having an off day but I did notice a few changes to the place; cafeteria workers were quite young and looked like they were “in training”, and the configuration of the service area had been changed. I don’t know if the place is under new management or they are struggling with the post-pandemic surge. I was hoping for better.

Well wanted sugar cinnamon donuts, none on shelf...the bakery employee (female) was there stocking the shelves with bread...asked her what time more donuts would be coming out
Her reply:”we don’t give out times, they have to be cool enough to package” “there’s another cart coming out but we need to unload this one first” well 5 mins later the second cart comes out with all kinds of packages of cinnamon sugar donuts...what the heck? You mean the employee didn’t know what was on that cart?
Then there was no way I could take one off the cart as she was grabbing them right in front of me to put on the shelf so I had no choice but to go get one off the shelf when the cart was right in front of me! She was very rude and obviously has no experience in good customer service.
Good customer service is what gives you good business in my experience.

Travelling from the NL-NS overnight ferry, this is a perfect place to stop after a few hours on the road. Lots to see. Tons of fresh produce and vegetables. A deli and bakery that always smells delicious. And a Christmas shop across the road with a great variety of things.

Are the 'gluten friendly' items at Catch of the Bay fried in dedicated fryers? Or are they fried in the same fryer as the non-gluten free onion rings & clams?

The gluten friendly items have their own fryer but are prepared in an area where gluten items exist.

Is the petting zoo only open during the months that the corn maze is open? We are thinking of stopping by in early June and wonder what attractions will be available.
