This little gem is located in a quiet Glen far enough off the road that all you hear at night is the bubbling brook and the wind in the trees. The inn is essentially a series of Scottish style stone buildings set amidst beautiful gardens. Very pretty. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the pub is excellent. Good food and daily ceilidhs to enjoy while you sip your choice of local and international drinks. The courtyard in warmer weather is fantastic. We stayed in the new building adjacent to the brook. Very nicely appointed with a great shower and a large room with a small patio facing the brook. They need to put a mat at the door for wet days, and a blind in the bathroom window to block the security light at night. In addition, a glass door at the patio instead of a steel door would be the icing on the cake. We visit regularly and are always pleased with the experience.

The grounds are beautiful as depicted on the Inn’s website. The room we stayed in wa in the wing next to the pub and for what we paid (directly via their website) it was WAY too much. Very dated furniture and bathroom. Stuck in the 80’s. Beds were like bricks and were squeaky. Old AC units so loud and musty, this we didn’t use it.
The food was fare. Disappointed with the seafood chowder (very runny) and not chunky or chock a block full of seafood. Our pasta and gnocchi were too saucy and they killed the lobster and salmon as they were too runny and busy with multiple flavours so the flavour of the seafoods were lost. You are charged for the distillery tour, even when you stay there. For what we paid to stay, my suggestion is to include that in the overnight.
As for the distillery tour-it is a quick 15 minutes and the only end of tour ‘sampling’ (as parlayed in the tour description) is the basic 10 year old. We wanted to sample the 14 year old and 15 year old before buying. My suggestion, take your lead from how they do things in Napa and Sonoma. Encourage people to buy at the end of the tour by having the opportunity for a wee dram.

I'm sorry you did not enjoy your time with us. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review with us and others. Our Inn rooms are being renovated as we speak and we are very excited to have them freshened up to match our newer accommodations.

There are two dining options here: a dining room with linen tablecloths and a more refined menu, and the pub with more casual fare. Both had vegetarian options. We had actually wanted the fine dining option, but weirdly there was a piano player performing, and it was simply too loud to be nice. Such a shame, because the space seemed lovely. Instead, we are in the pub and had a delicious bean burger with friends. Very substantial serve and friendly staff. We were happy!

The bean burger is always a hit! Thank you for your comments on the volume of our music as it is sometimes hard for us to judge that as we are bustling around. These are important things for us to hear as it helps us improve our setting for the next time. We appreciate your visit and your review! Bertha

We were so looking forward to our two nights and distillery tour at the Glenora Inn in mid-October. Just hours before our arrival, we were informed that the tours we had booked were not available during our stay and that the pub was closed. On check in we were informed that the restaurant was also closed. They did give us the option of cancelling the reservation, but that didn’t seem a viable option at 4 p.m. Our cabin was clean and adequate. Thankfully it had a fridge and microwave to heat our frozen dinners, as there were no restaurants open in Mabou or Inverness. Needless to say, this wasn’t the gourmet food and whisky tasting experience we had hoped for. We feel we should have been warned, either at the time of booking, or soon afterwards, so that we could have made alternative plans.

I'm sorry we dropped the ball here. We tried to keep all of our amenities open as long as we could in 2020 but with it being such a difficult season for our industry it was next to impossible. We did try to make contact with all of our guests to inform them of our closing but we must have made an error with your reservation. I hope you do get to return now that things are slowly getting back to normal so we can provide you with the whisky experience we would have liked to. Thank you for your review. Bertha

The inn is styled to look like a Scottish distillery and its location in a remote Glen adds to that impression. It’s surrounded by beautiful gardens and stunning scenery. The Brookside rooms are newer and quite nice, with a babbling brook out back and only a few steps from the pub and reception. The shower is spacious and modern. The beds are firm and high if that’s important to you. The feather pillows aren’t great, but I try to bring my own anyway.
The pub and restaurant serve good food at reasonable prices. The takeaway breakfast (during Covid pandemic) is nice as well. If the weather cooperates, the outdoor patio is a gorgeous spot to sit and eat.
The only criticism is that the bathroom windows in Brookside rooms need a blind, as you can see in at night and the walkway outside is on level with the window.
We return here regularly, as it’s a great location for exploring the area.

Stayed at the Inn, took the short tour, ate at the restaurant and watched the entertainment. We had a great afternoon and evening. The room was very clean and neat. Food was fantastic and service was very friendly. Maybe a little slow but we were in no hurry. We found service slow everywhere on the island but that always had to do with places simply being short staffed due to COVID. Take the tour that runs on the hour. They guy that ran it was very intelligent and very funny. Well worth staying here

What a pleasant surprise!!! I honestly did not know what to expect when we first booked this. We were greeted by friendly faces upon arrival, super easy check in, and then afford early into our room.

Room was spacious, with beautiful views of a creek and trees. Right close to the restaurant.

I had high hopes for this place, as it’s highly mentioned as a place to visit, but it was incredibly lackluster. I expected a grand estate to tour, with a detailed showing of their whiskey making process and history, but instead it was a small couple of buildings, with a really basic customer experience. Also, the whisky here is exorbitantly expensive! My jaw dropped when I saw what they were charging for a basic 10 year aged whisky, and the prices skyrocket from there. Very disappointing, I had come prepared to buy a few bottles, but the price was an instant turn off. I understand it’s a boutique of sorts, since it isn’t sold across the Country or worldwide, but it was unreasonable, clearly aimed at people whose wallets aren’t concerned with how much is removed from them. If only the property had offered a more in depth tourist experienced, it would have at least salvaged the visit. Pity.

I am sorry to read that your visit with us was not enjoyed! We are definitely a boutique distillery and the quantity that we distill each year is quite small compared to most distilleries. Our price not only depicts the fact that we are rare, but also that we are the first single malt distillery in North America making a very small intimate batch per distilling season. There are a lot of hands that contribute to our product including hand bottling and hand labelling by our gals in the bottling plant. We are proud of the unique product we are making. We do understand that our product appeals more to the whisky enthusiast. I am sorry that you feel we are catering to a select clientele, I assure you that is not the case. We appreciate your visit and you taking the time to write a review of your time here. Sincerely, Bertha.

Would give 5 stars except for the having to deal with the nastiest woman in Canada(I think her name was Mary) working at reception. She almost made us decide not to even bother staying.

But after having to put up with her, everything else was good.

The whisky is good but waaaayyyy overpriced. A 10 year old for $80 is ridiculous!! There are some 15-18 year olds for not much more and are significantly better. Not sure why they put so much value on their product. Kept me from buying anything...event the $15 minature! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We went on the Distillery tour then checked out the gift shop. I was told only the 10 year( $110 in Alberta) was available outside of the Distillery grounds. I purchased a bottle of 14 year for $120. Upon returning to Alberta I found the 14 year locally for $98. I'm not sure if someone at the Distillery was misinformed or if I was lied to. I emailed the Distillery but a response didn't come.
