Staff were wonderful and there are some great artifacts. Train cars in desperate need of some TLC. Free admission - donations accepted.

There were 3 trains outside and 1 inside. It was a good place for us to stop for 1/2 hour to photograph because we like trains. If you are not truly into trains, skip it.

For anyone who is interested in learning & seeing first hand about trains & train station's of the past this would be a great stop, you can visit the museum and see many interesting items from old lantern's to a little nook where the train master slept, lots of reading of things that happened years ago also go inside an... The trains no longer run in Louisburg, but this is as close to the real experience as you can get. Walk through the station with ticket counter, memorabilia, and the tiny upstairs room for the family. Sit in a second class train car and imagine the clickity click as you journey to another town. HINT: don’t rush this rare opportunity... More

We love trains and this was an interesting museum, the young girl who showed us round really knew her stuff and and we really enjoyed our visit. There are some lovely quilts in one of the sheds

Some neat stuff there but not very interactive and the outside display was run down and dingy. Donation at entrance .

This would be interesting for railroad buffs but may not be that interesting for children who might want more activities.

Learnt a lot about the history of the line, but the museum is showing signs of ageing and could usefully be the subject of a cash injection. Shown round by an enthusiastic youngster. No fixed admission fee, just donations.

We decided to pop in for a quick visit and ended up staying for well over an hour. There is lots to see in 3 different buildings which focuses on both rail and maritime history in Louisbourg. The museum is run by volunteers and they rely on donations to keep things going. When we stopped in their were two young... More

We went just to get out of the rain and had a very interesting time. It takes about an hour to look at everything because there is so much to see. Enjoyed sitting in the old passenger railway car. The model train display was very realistic. The volunteer staff do an excellent job of explaining the local history. Be sure... More
