If you would like to hear and feel the music and charm of Cape Breton, this is the place to go. We just had a short walk to the Playhouse and were thoroughly entertained for just a little over $20.00 each. The theater inside is perfect for watching the stage from any seat you may have...there's a balcony also which... More

We didn't know about this theatre until we walked by after dinner. The music emanating from the building made us stop and listen. It was great!

Very good versatile 4 piece band. Varied styles & good musicianship. Especially enjoyed brilliant fiddler/dancer/pianist Kimberley. Loved everything apart from Jake the Peg (nooooooo, drop it guys) & the murdering of Danny Boy (one of the best tunes ever written). Would definitely go to hear them again. Lovely intimate theatre.

On a very wet evening we went to this delightful venue to see Island Folk who were great. Not a big crowd (25 max) which was a shame but we enjoyed the singing, the complimentary tea/coffee and oatcakes (which were more like shortbread) at the interval and the general friendliness of Nova Scotia. A lovely evening - please go if... More

we got lucky and Men of the Deeps were there that night, we had been in the Miners museum in Glace Bay earlier so it was perfect timing for us. Couldn't believe we could still get tickets that late. Very informative and entertaining concert and reasonably priced.

In the area, and with not much else going on, we were told to go see a concert in the playhouse. I am not a fan of di-diddley fiddle stuff, but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Alas, there wasn't a big crowd in which meant that we talked to many others during the interval which was good,... More

We asked at the Louisbourg Fortress reception desk if they could recommend any entertainment for the evening. The hostess looked in her book to see what was playing and her enthusiastic reply of "Your in Luck, J P Cormier" is playing at the Playhouse sold us on the spot. He puts on a great entertaining show of song and stories.... More

After spending the day at the Louisbourg Fortress,,a motel clerk mentioned to us that there was entertainment at the Louisbourg Playhouse that evening. In fact, apparently there is musical and/or comedic entertainment MOST summer and fall nights at this beautifully built Cape Breton Theatre and Playhouse. On the night we attended, two local singers, Mark MacIntyre and Jason Kempt, spent... More

If you're in Louisbourg overnight, check the schedule for the Playhouse and definitely go! We booked seats in advance online - every seat is good since it's a theater-in-the-round kind of set-up. Acoustics were very good and they even served coffee/tea and delicious oatcakes at intermission - included in your ticket price.

We went to a David Gunning concert here. Fabulous venue! It was transported by Disney to Louisbourg as a thanks for using the Fort in one of their movies. Very intimate and they served complimentary coffee, tea and oatcakes. ( the first time I had ever had an oatcake) One of the highlights of out trip!
