- SharonCape Breton Island, Canada3 contributionsLittle-known gem on the Cabot TrailDon't miss Theatre Baddeck during your Cabot Trail visit! Theatre Baddeck's plays offer a unique window on Cape Breton's history and culture, rounding out your visit focused on Cabot Trail scenery, music, and handcrafts. Plus the acting and set design are first-rate, on par with that found in Canada's major cities, for a fraction of the cost and seating that allows you to it all up close. Prebook your tickets and head on over for the show after dinner at one of Baddeck's fine restaurants. You'll be glad you did!Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 19, 2023
- PRicher2023Terrebonne, Canada1 contributionSeafood and a good showI really enjoyed Theatre Baddeck. The staff was friendly and the theater itself is quite charming. If you are looking for a place to eat before the play, I recommend Baddeck Lobster Supper nearby for the freshest and tastiest seafood. They only accept reservations for groups of 6 or more, so I would recommend to get there 2h ahead of your show start.Visited July 2023Written August 17, 2023
- KentMacDougallLittle Harbour, Canada1 contributionHalf-Cracked: the Legend of Sissy Mary Theatre BaddeckVery entertaining show. Mary Colin Chisholm portrayed Mary in a very authentic way. The rest of the cast were great as well. We've been to several Theatre Baddeck productions, and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend going!Visited August 2023Written August 17, 2023
- FarmGirlGourmetNova Scotia, Canada3 contributionsProfessional theatre in an intimate settingThis was our first time experiencing Theatre Baddeck and it was wonderful! As a group of four, we all very much enjoyed the show Half-Cracked. I would recommend going at least 30-45 minutes before show time to get a seat either in the front row or higher up in the tiered seating. We were in the second row and visibility wasn't as good as it would have been from another section. All in all, a really great experience though! Professional, engaging, and entertaining! We will return!Visited July 2023Written August 17, 2023
- soberdj551 contributionanother worldlife is busy and taking an evening to enjoy a play feels like a small bubble where one can withdraw from busy life or trip. the sound was very well managed and I did not miss a word even though it was not my first language. great props and art. great performance by the actors.Visited July 2023Written August 17, 2023
- Debbie JOttawa, Canada7 contributionsExcellent showIn a small masonic hall the theatre company put on an amazing performance, we saw the Hydrofoil Mystery on their opening night. Don't judge this theatre company by their theatre or small budget for back drop and props. Their limited budget does not stop these folks from being a "professional" company of actors. The casting was excellent, Alexzander Graham Bell especially. Most actors had numerous roles and swiftly changed their characters with ease and without confusing the audience. The movement of large/small props was actually choreographed and performed by the actors, such an interesting element. The use of lighting and choreography during the scene where the hydrofoil sank, was brilliant. I don't Try to go to the Graham Bell museum in Baddeck before seeing this particular show, think it runs until mid September. If I lived closer I would definity go to see their other performances.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 6, 2023

It’s a cute little hall ( old church perhaps? )It was really easy to deal with them for tickets and they were very accomodating when my travel plans made me miss the performance I had tickets do .Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten September 25, 2023

Such a lovely community in Baddeck and it is supported by a vibrant Arts Scene. Kudos and many opening curtains to this beautiful little theatre.Visited September 2023Written September 28, 2023
- navyav8rOrlando, Florida21 contributionsGreat acting, great show! The show had an engaging plot and the acting was top-notch. We really enjoyed the show’s tie-in to Alexander Graham Bell even though it was a fictional story, especially after visiting his museum earlier in our visit. It’s a small theater, so every seat is great! Highly recommended.Visited September 2023Written September 30, 2023

Theatre Baddeck delivered an amazing production of the delightful and entertaining drama titled, The Hydrofoil Mystery, written by Christy MacRae-Ziss. The acting was amazing and set design superbly inventive. This feel good, riveting, quick moving story, captured audience attention and imagination. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable.

Actors were very talented despite limited backdrop features. Made the play work well by sheer acting talent despite lack of big city theatre facilities. Adults in our group of eight loved it as well as the 12 year old twins.

I had a three day visit to Baddeck so I decided to get tickets for myself and two relatives. I love live performances…. We were in the front row… the actors were all fabulous and the quaint theatre atmosphere was just what I was hoping for from this special Cape Breton village!

What a terrific evening! We were fortunate to attend the opening evening at it was simply outstanding. From the time we were greeted at the front door to the performances on stage this event was first class. As season ticket holders to Neptune Theatre for several years, this play was equal to any that we have seen at Neptune. Congrats to all. A first class theatre experience in a small and intimate local theatre.

We thoroughly enjoyed The Myth of the Ostrich last Saturday in Baddeck. It was very well-done, the acting was superb, and we were sore from laughing-an overall great performance!! We very much appreciated that masks were required to be worn throughout the play. It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed a delicious meal on the outdoor patio at the Freight Shed after the show. A wonderful day in Baddeck!!!!

I have attended all of Theatre Baddeck Seasons and have not been disappointed, The performance of Outside Mullingar was great. The acting was superb and the set was good given the small space that there is to work within. I highly recommend attending a show if you are in Baddeck.

The theater was small, but felt very intimate. We saw The Hydrofoil Mystery, a play written by one of the actors. The story involved Alexander Graham Bell. The acting was outstanding and the play engaging. We highly recommend seeing a show at the Theatre Baddeck!

I have sponsored Theater Baddeck for several years because the Theater Baddeck continues to develop and deliver outstanding productions to the Cape Breton community. I highly encourage locals and visitors alike to take in a performance. I greatly enjoyed the opening night performance of Where You Are on Sept 3 with family and friends. Acting was terrific and the play was very moving!

The Cast is this play did a great job. The first act was very drawn out and the setting of the scene probably could have been done much faster. The second act was far better and moved along nicely with some nice humour intertwined with the serious nature of the play. Very Irish where the glassis always half empty.
