Even though it got too windy to take the normal tour a side trip to the visit the Eagles and estuary was also very cool. Helpful instructions for beginners new to kayaking. Justin was a great guide and what a pleasure to meet the owner Angelo. We played his CDs of music in the car the rest of the trip,... More

Did a half-day tour today with my mom and younger sister (she's 21, I'm 23). My mom and sister had done sea kayaking in Churchill, Manitoba, but I had done it only once before, around 8 years ago. So I'm a total beginner. But that doesn't matter on this tour at all! Our tour guide, Justin, was fantastic. He started... More

I was visiting Cape Breton island for the first time, just primarily to sea kayak. I had two tours booked with North River Kayak, the half day and the full day. The staff were friendly and professional. The hot food on the full day was 1st class. High recommendation is take some Banana Bread for the dog. He loves it.

We did the full day tour with Justin and Angelo and it was great. We have done some river kayaking but never sea kayaking. The weather was beautiful and we were very happy with our guides who were professional in their knowledge of the water and delightful in their roles as hosts. The waterside lunch was prepared by Angelo and... More

My wife and I did the half-day kayak tour on our last day of a Cape Breton getaway. We sure are glad we did. Justin was a fantastic tour guide and we really enjoyed the scenery and the paddling, even though we paddled through a stiff headwind all the back. Tip: if you can, go with the tandem kayak. Solo... We have some experience kayaking and canoeing on rivers but had never done sea kayaking. We booked the half-day trip and enjoyed it thoroughly. As noted by other reviewers, Angelo and the other guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. Safety is a priority, so this is an outing that can be enjoyed by older children and adults alike, at all levels... More

We did a half-day tour starting at 9 am on our way from Baddeck to Ingonish. We've been on guided kayaking trips before and would rate North River as one of the best. We lucked out with ideal weather, a small group (just 5 adults, ranging from first-time to seasoned kayakers) and a great guide. Our guide Justin warmly welcomed... More

This was our second time ever kayaking. Angelo was a great tour guide, very fun and knowledgeable about the area. The day we went, was cold and rainy, and Angelo provided us with extra rain coats and waterproof gloves to wear to ensure that we stayed warm. While the kayaking was a great experience, we wish there could've been more... More

When planning an east coast road trip months in advance my husband and I searched out kayaking in Cape Breton Island and found North River Kayak Tours in Baddeck. This was just a half hour drive from our bed and breakfast, Dunlop Inn in Baddeck. The owner of North River Kayak, Angelo, greeted us and made us feel welcome. Our... More

Very friendly, professional guys who took the time to calmly explain how everything works (never having kayaked myself). Had a lot of fun on the water, chatting with the guides. Also loved spotting the eagles, the little picknick and the stunning views. Definitely recommendable!
