This was so wonderful to see and learn about. My grandfather was a blacksmith - but not to these proportions!!! So interesting to learn about the family that passed this down for generations before finally donating it to the Trinity Historical Society!!!

It was wonderful to watch the blacksmiths doing their daily jobs and seeing the beautiful end products. Very knowledgeable about the work and the area.

This forge is in operation during the tourist season by a very skilled blacksmith who is willing to tell you about it. He produces quality items. We were all impressed by what we saw and heard.

Thank you Wade, Devon and Sam for the tour of your historic shop. The imagination and subsequent quality of you work is outstanding. Your welcome, your respect for the trade ... a joy to stand on a cold wet day inside in the warmth of hearth and Rock hospitality.
Q Tip: Lots of choice merchandise so inventory your house before you come to The Rock for any needs that may include towel racks, toilet roll holders, hooks, fire pokers ... there is something for your home.
We bought hooks.

What a treat to watch two master smiths making unique iron products in this living history museum. This particular smithy was built in 1895 - the 3rd in operation for the Green family and the original tools, massive bellows and techniques continue to be used today. We bought a lovely piece for our home, but there is no pressure to buy, you can simply watch these amazing craftsmen work their magic. The whole Trinity historic district is worth a visit to check out the homes, churches, forge, museum, etc. Great value and a fascinating experience.

We really enjoyed our visit to the forge and especially enjoyed a long chat with the Blacksmith who forged some lovely artistic items for us from scratch right in front of us. As well as being an excellent craftsman, he entertained and educated us on his craft and told us some great historical anecdotes. It was like going back in time and we all really enjoyed our visit. This is a must-see when in Trinity.

The Historical society charges for entry to their buildings in Trinity, including the Blacksmith shop. Or, you can make a donation and just go in the Blacksmith's. We arrived late in the day, so didn't want to buy the whole historical tour pass, and I wanted to pick up some forged souvenirs here. But the admissions process turned into a bit of a schmozzle, and in the end, I didn't want to pay entrance to buy iron souvenirs (which are also available elsewhere).
On the other hand, if you've never been to an old timey Blacksmith's at a pioneer village or historic village, then by all means, spring for admission.

Wade, the blacksmith, and his apprentice do very authentic work and continue to produce beautiful handmade items. We have carried several items such as letter openers and fireplace forks home on the plane and they remind us of our wonderful visits to Newfoundland.
