This comprehensive tour features the best of "the Far East of the Western World". Travel from the northernmost tip of the island of Newfoundland to the most easterly point in North America through national parks - including Gros Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn of ancient peoples - the Maritime Archaic, Vikings, and Basques - as you travel to coastal fishing communities to meet the friendly and hospitable people of today. Boat tours provide the opportunity to see whales, thousands of seabirds, and, depending on the time of year, icebergs! Sample the local food and drink to become an honorary "Newfoundlander"!

*Please note that our June 12 departure is bilingual English/German, and our August 14 departure is bilingual English/French

We visited at the end of August 2019. A great place to take in the views. A wonderful place to watch puffins! I could have spent hours watching the puffins and looking for whales. Very happy we visited. There is a nice gift shop (which I bought my now favourite mittens at), and also a clean restroom.

Great views for whales and puffins! Nice gift shop. Paths out to the edges of the cliffs give awesome ocean views!

Watched the whales feeding and playing. Could be stayed there for hours. Beautiful place and never seen so many puffins. Cute gift shop there's also. Well worth the visit.

Perched on a rocky hill with a short trail to the cliff edge. We waited until a coach load of tourists left the lighthouse and we could hear the fog horn every couple of minutes. On entering the visitor centre, the attendant said that the blowing of the horn was quite by accident, perhaps by the wind but not by humans. In earlier times the lighthouse was inhabited by a family, small rooms but quite comfortable. Now it is only seen by tourists. Outside are some good viewpoints in in the summer season the kiosk is open for snacks. It was closed in mid September. There is a lot of history in that centre and is well worth the trip.

The gentleman who greeted us provided a good overview how the light house operated and the life of a lighthouse keeper and his family.
