The whole tip of the Bonavista is scenic overload - the Lighthouse is the jewel in the area, whenever the provincial government remembers to put new paint on it! The road from Bonavista to the Cape is a delight for the eyes - the scenery, not the road, which is narrow and winding, the views on both sides of the... More

We got there at almost closing time. It was a rainy afternoon. But it was worth the visit. The people there were so nice. There is a good gift store there. We then walked around the area to Fisherman's Memorial and Cabot's Landfall. Glad we went. You could also drive to that area instead of walking to it.

A Pittoresk place with a lot of history, from 1497 to today. John Cabot landed here and Rediscovered the island. The wiev is magnificant, both ocean and shore. The whole aerea is user friendly.

We had a beautiful sunny day when we toured this lighthouse. The reenactment of how life was for those folks in those days was done very well.

The Cape Bonavista lighthouse is a must if travelling on the Bonavista peninsula. It's the point at which Henry Cabot 'discovered' Newfoundland. The cape is a fabulous, wild, wind-swept promontory & for Mr Cabot to have referred to it as a "good view" takes a fair leap of the imagination. If you visit the replica of his ship in Bonavista... Very historical site. Guide provided valuable insight of the lighthouse and the light keepers experience. Day of visit was rainy and wet but we enjoyed the tour very much

Lighthouse alone is worth the visit but would also suggest walking the Cape Shore Trail from just outside Bonvista to the Lighthouse (13km return). Spectacular shoreline scenery with many photo ops

We really enjoyed walking around the site. With the great rock formations and lots of varied walking trails this is great spot to spend sometime enjoying the Newfoundland coast.

We were told that it would be spectacular to go about a half hour before sunset and it was!!! Depending on your fitness level, you may want to see the Puffins on the cliffs. Even though the museum is closed at that time, touring the lighthouse and area really is worth the bit of a climb. I loved the Puffins.
